Re: State of the Market

None of these modern Rolex watches seem to have actual, intrinsic value anywhere near MSRP. You can say that about all modern luxury watches, but it’s a hard pill to swallow when you consider what the MSRPs were just a few years ago. The fact that a Sub is now $10K just boggles my mind. Of course i...

Re: 2021 ins & outs

Not too much activity this year. The big acquisition was the Explorer II Polar to go with my black dial version. http://i.imgur.com/b4gxyAu.jpg I also received a Timex Q as a Xmas gift (no pic). Out to fund the polar was this 14270. http://i.imgur.com/yNmB3XE.jpg In and then gifted to my son for his...

Re: So, Any Watch Related Gifts This Year?

I haven't taken a pic, but the fam got me the Q Timex reissue with the pepsi bezel. It's a fun quartz watch. Bracelet was easy to adjust and I love that I can change the battery myself when the time comes.

Re: State of the Market

Unless/until the Rolex/AP/PP supply chain loosens up and ADs and boutiques have stock to sell, I don't see the gray market prices on the new pieces going down at all. What blows me away when it comes to Rolex are the prices on all of the five digit models (and even some older six digit models). Giv...

Re: State of the Market

I read something that suggested the VC Overseas has started to increase in value as people look to brands other than Rolex, PP, and AP for their luxury watch fix. But if the Overseas hasn't yet seen the price increases of the Royal Oak and can actually be purchased from an AD by mere mortals, I'd s...

Re: New Seiko Thread

If you're going to charge $4K plus for a watch, I think you need to do better than claim +10 to -15 seconds accuracy (regardless of how the movement performs in real life). That's Tudor or (pre-owned) Omega co-axial price territory. The movement should perform accordingly.

Re: Vintage Tudor Rose Info Please…Updated

That's cool Dave - glad you figured it out. I wonder, is the crown original to the watch? A lot of the vintage Tudors I see have Rolex signed crowns, but this one may be too old for that, or just an exception. At any rate, it would be a fun little watch to wear. The movements in vintage Tudor and R...

Re: Volumenzeit Watches with 3D dials

What do you think about it? Like it? Could you imagine yourself wearing such watch? :shifty: No. Double no. This is also good to know for me, a nice analysis of the market how people like it and how many, I need to know both sides. Therefore thank you =) I'm not into your watches, but you show a lo...

Re: Kevin O'Leary on Digital NFTs for Watches

I enjoy O'Leary's passion for watches. I don't think he's the most knowledgeable when it comes to the tech side, but he clearly appreciates the aesthetics of a well-designed and well-made watch. Of course, part of it is definitely that he enjoys being a guy who can afford expensive toys. I'm not sur...

The movement's beautiful, the tech is awesome, and the dial is completely illegible.

I'm sure it isn't cheap, but I bet it goes for less than $6,500,000.

That case back cut out is pretty cool, thanks, AT I wonder how it opens? I can never get screw in casebacks to line up straight when tightened. 😅 My first thought too. Would need incredible precision on the threading of the metal parts and would always need to use the correct gasket so it aligns wh...

While some really think this is the future, I think this whole Met/nft is a giant fail and money grab for the new generation. Sad. Re: Sotheby's Important Watches: Auction Results

On the one hand, the prices that run of the mill Rolex models are commanding these days is ridiculous. On the other, it makes the "I hate Rolex" crowd completely lose their shit and mumble to themselves things like "my Panerai/Omega/Grand Seiko is way better," so I'm all for it in that respect. :mrg...

Nice find, assuming there wasn’t an arm attached to it.

Maybe the bear digested the arm and pooped out the watch.

Very cool, and very unobtainable, but I would still stick with my blue dial version.
