Calm down everyone - $350,000 is only the approximate recommended retail price.

Re: Rolex at Watches & Wonders

I don't get the falcon's eye thing at all (on what is otherwise a very cool watch). I never really paid attention to falcon's eye dials before, so my first thought was "is that REALLY what they're supposed to look like?" Turns out that it isn't. Maybe the Rolex version will look better IRL.

They've done this sort of thing before. It was ugly then and it's ugly now. But Zenith has plenty of other, better offerings.

Re: Tudor BB Pro

I looked at the BB Pro again and I think that I really like it. It's possibly the most attractive and tasteful pisslume watch that I've ever seen. Jacob this might be the most positive thing you have ever written on this forum. Your meds must be working. I'm not sure what I look forward to...

Re: Tudor Black Bay Root Beer GMT

Tudor is getting more and more Rolexish... They always have been. Sure, they have some of their "own" models, If you look back over the last 30 years, the Tudors that everyone likes are basically slightly funky versions of standard Rolex designs. The uniquely tudor watches are often total shit. The...

Re: Tudor Black Bay Root Beer GMT

Tudor is getting more and more Rolexish... They always have been. Sure, they have some of their "own" models, but their roots are obviously Rolex, and they seem to be targeting buyers who like the Rolex look but can't afford it. Or who like the older Rolex models that Rolex doesn't make anymore. An...

Re: Tudor BB Pro

Not for me, but I’m glad to see the adjustable clasp. The Rolex releases are total shit. An air king with crown guards and a destro green/black GMT2? Rolex has lost the plot. I'm not sure why Rolex thinks putting crown guards on the air king are going to suddenly make it more desirable, but I guess...

Tudor Black Bay Root Beer GMT

I've always had a soft spot for the root beer GMT, and I like the general concept. But I wish they had reduced the case size and thickness, and I wish they had included a jubilee bracelet option. Plus the large, gold crown is a bit much for me. All in all I'd give Tudor a solid B/B+ on this one. htt...

Re: Tudor BB Pro

Love it. A 1655 is completely out of reach for me, but maybe one of these someday. I think I'd put it on either an olive green or khaki nato when I wasn't wearing it with the bracelet.

On edit: Just saw that it's 14.6mm thick. Not sure about that...

So it's not the battery hatch that's bleeding, it's the entire watch. Phew!

Re: Dad jokes

I can recount a dad joke.

So the other day my wife started a story with “I don’t remember if we were married….” Meaning “I don’t remember if we were married yet.”

I responded, “of course we were married. I have pictures and everything.”

I thought she was going to slug me like Will Smith.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?

Apparently a stabbing at the Swatch Store in NY.... What a shithole. I was at Mardi Gras years ago and saw people almost come to blows over shitty, cheap plastic beads. I remember as a kid seeing the news about parents fighting each other over cabbage patch dolls or mugging each other for Air Jorda...

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?

Pretty crazy. The only other inexpensive watch I can think of that came even close to this was the release of the Timex Q a couple of years ago. But that was pretty much all online, so you didn’t see the lines like this. Just a few months of being shut out at retail and ridiculous second hand mark-u...

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?

Seeing lots of chatter from some on TRF and Omegaforums about how this "cheapens" the Omega brand, that they're going to sell their Omegas, that they're insulted they spent a lot of money on Omega only to see this happen, etc. To be fair, it's coming from a comparatively small number of people, but...

I like that. Every now and then I try to convince myself that I need a dress watch, but I talk myself out of it. But this would definitely be a contender in that category.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?

There's currently a ridiculous debate about these watches on WUS right now... https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/stolen-valor.5392528/ For those who can't access WUS, from the OP: "This whole swatch moonSwatch debacle is nothing more than stolen valor. Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?

There's a Swatch store in Bridgeport, CT? Who knew? I like the concept. Swatch watches have always been about inexpensive fun, and these fit the bill. I'm sure Omega looks at it as a way to attract younger folks to the brand. On edit: I knew it was too good to be true. No swatch store in Bridgeport ...

Re: Just curious, why does Selita get a bad rap?

OTOH, some of the more recent Hamilton ETA based movements seem to have some performance issues (at least the one used in the khaki mechanical). i think that was the H-10's? they were a pain in the ass. they actually had magnets if recall that had to reset to regulate them. so i sent a few back to ...

Re: Just curious, why does Selita get a bad rap?

I'm not sure they get a bad rap, but I do find people seem to be less willing to spend an equal amount of money for a selita movement than they are for an ETA. I've also heard anecdotal stuff about Oris watches with selitas not being as reliable as they were back when they used ETA, but I'm not sure...
