^^^This. Until someone here gets this watch and reports back, I'm defaulting to the "pure sex on the strap" position.

Re: omg these are prettty
The HEV should be sunken in on the 1665. If it's ever flush with the side of the case, the entire side has been overpolished by a lot. This is confirmed by the caseback shot. There should be a decent amount of metal visible between the edge of the caseback and the edge of the case. On his, there is...

What homathetes said; only my tears are pure rye whiskey. That sucks. Tell me she actually *had* insurance...? Glad you're ok, glad there was no Harley involved, and glad you have that smokin' dodge in the first place. Nice FJ40, too: you have good taste.

LOVE the 856 UTC!!! (I also bet I'd love the new non UTC, to boot...)
Great combos, one and all. If I had that watch, I'd stay home all night and play dress up, too...

Re: Audi or BMW?
The mention of the Genesis brings up the Koreans. I rented a Genesis for a few days when in L.A. last January, and it struck me as being every bit as killer as the magazines and the Internet forums say. If I was buying, I'd probably do the big Hyundai. But I'm not, so grain of salt and all...

Exactly what everyone else said. That may therefore be one of the cooler watches posted in the short time I've been here. It has it all: provenance, looks and cool.

Re: Audi or BMW?
I'd keep the 2003 and buy something way cool and vintage as a total weekend toy. Haven't you learned anything from the Rolex guys? That said, I do like BMW products. My current ride is an R53 Mini with some mild tuning upgrades. Yeah, it's a bit of a moped image-wise, but hell on wheels fu...

Re: 42 v. 44 v. 45
The crystal on the JLC is like a thunderdome; you ever see miniature sports teams duking it out center dial between the indices? ;) To my amateur's mind, the main thing determining perception of size is the dial; a big bezel on a 44mm case will tend to equalize the watch next to a full width crystal...

Re: When did you first realize that you were a budding WIS?
I remember about 15 years ago working in the mall and going by certain jewelers that carried Rolex - looking for those watches with the "perpetual" second hand as I called it. :geek: Oh yeah... you and I were in different malls at roughly the same time in history... the dealer in my neck of ...

When did you first realize that you were a budding WIS?
I can personally point to one defining moment: when I was in 7th grade, I wrote to Rolex requesting a catalog. In hindsight, I don't remember what exactly possessed me to do this, but I do remember my dad being surprised as hell when the catalog finally arrived in the mail. I spent the entire evenin...
