well a possible sad addendum to this story, my buddy had his Double Red Sea Dweller stolen during a F2F transaction in the greater San Diego area this past monday.
Seems like a less sophisticated version of the crew in the article.

STOLEN: Circa 1974 Rolex 1665 Double-Red Sea Dweller MK3, Serial: 3577029
My friend was robbed of his watch the morning of April 8, 2019 in the San Diego area. Please be on the lookout for this piece. It is a circa 1974 Rolex 1665 DRSD MK3, 3577029 serial. All original except bracelet (service bracelet) It occurred during a face to face meeting at a local watch shop, the ...

Really tough call since I have my heirloom vintage Omega dress Seamaster... I guess I'd just keep my Big Pilot to make 2

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Andrew and I were just discussing looking at solutions with forum-specific apps. Incidentally, do you have any experience with the Tapatalk web forums? I suppose they went backwards, developing the app first and then building a forum that probably is directly/best compatible. Unfortunately no, neve...

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
tapatalk was fighting a losing battle from the beginning, the sheer number of plugins they have to develop, maintain, secure/patch, and improve is staggering in addition to all the work that goes into making an iOS and Android app. I'm surprised more forum software platforms haven't just created app...

since I mainly only look at forums now while I'm using a desktop or laptop computer, this is fine. I definitely used forums more when I used tapatalk though.

Re: Tudor Sub possible leaked photo
Whatever Tudor ends up releasing, I hope they manage to bring production up to demand across their other models as well. I hear the "shortage" of stainless steel Rolex sport models is because they are preparing to update many models to the latest movement, but I'd take that rumor with a grain of sal...

They have long been purely an entertainment website for me, so no big deal. If they make anything cool, I'd rather order online and avoid paying sales tax.

Re: Weiss 42mm Limited American Issue Field Watch
I especially like how he implements the hacking seconds feature into his cal 1003. Pull the crown and the seconds hand will continue to rotate until it reaches 12, where it stops perfectly in position, ready to sync up with your time setting. That's a cool feature. The Panerai P.1000 movement incor...

Re: Weiss 42mm Limited American Issue Field Watch
I've seen them machining screws and movement main plates in their shop and it is impressive what a small crew can do here in the states. The cal 1003 is very simple and not reinventing the wheel at all, but Cameron is obsessed with manufacturing this workhorse movement perfectly here in the states b...

Re: ugh. here we go again (new hodinkee LE with IWC)
Another tidbit I got from an IWC contact is that, goinfg forward, ceratanium case production will be scaled back and fewer and fewer references will offer it because it is a pain to work with and costs too much. Personally I don't think enough of the market sees the value enough to make it a more ma...
