Re: Been going out of control on Ships clock another incomming.
Well got the part that was missing on the dial. It was called a reflector. I guess on the newer clock the holes on the reflector are in a different spot so had to drill new hole to fit right. One thing about these larger Chelsea Pilot House Clocks they have such wall presence and just stand out just...

Re: Brando's 1675 sold today at auction. Stupid $
There are people in this world that are just rich and money is nothing and 5 million just pocket change. It’s like one of us buying what we can afford but these guys can afford more so not so crazy. If any of us made more money we all would move our hobby up a notch and buy stuff like this watch. It...

My clock might be older maybe made in August 1918. Just got this book called Chelsea Clock Company the first 100 years. Has stuff from the record books from Chelsea. My serial number is 123128 if you look at the page below most likely made in August 1918 so might of saw a little service in WW1. If y...

Re: Been going out of control on Ships clock another incomming.
Great thing about these there American made. Just wished the company was more on the ball with their history. Only info Chelsea can tell you the date of manufacture and who bought it. I got more info on one of my US Navy deck clock No3 from the NAWCC. Here is a company that sort of lost its history.

Been going out of control on Ships clock another incomming.
After getting that US Shipping Board Pilot house clock and saw the quality of the larger size these are heavy clocks had to use a 75-pound rated pitcher frame hook and find the stud in the wall to hang it on the wall. Well saw another Pilot House clock for sale but a US Navy one. The second bit or s...

Re: WW1 era US Shipping Board Chelsea Pilot House Clock
Way cool Mike, and no I do not know what a inclinometer is. lol The clinometer tells the degrees of the rolls the ship is doing at sea. And you never want to see it at 70 degrees then you're in a big storm only seen it once in a typhoon then you find out what those seat belt type straps are for in ...

WW1 era US Shipping Board Chelsea Pilot House Clock
Been wanting a pilot house clock for a while. There the largest made deck clock at 10 inches in diameter and rare. The US Shipping board in WW1 was like the US Maritime Commission in WW2 that took all the supplies and troops overseas. Almost mint condition. Movement and case serial numbers match a p...

Re: WW1 era Chelsea US Navy No.3 Deck Clock
Here is one I wish was mine but it's in a Navy Museum. But the US Navy Observatory serial numbers are close mine seems older but in better shape. Wonder since the numbers are so close they came from the same ship. https://i.imgur.com/QJ1Nh9h.jpg https://www.history.navy.mil/content/history/nhhc/our-...

Re: WW1 era Chelsea US Navy No.3 Deck Clock
Just bought this online. Will put it on the wooded plaque under the clock a cool touch. Would have liked to find a Pilot House one but Wheelhouse about the same. Spent a lot of my active-duty time in the wheel house on watch. we had a lot of names for this the Bridge, Pilot House or Wheel House. htt...

Re: IWC Porsche Design IW3702
Sure bud. Hi, I’m Andrew. I’ve been here since 2016. That watch is a total safe queen, and they list IWC service papers from 1989, so the oils will be totally dried out. You should anticipate that it needs an entire movement service, crown gasket, pusher gaskets, and caseback gasket, which a...
