Re: Congratulations, Todd! NJ the most Outbound State

Property tax is the most egregious form of taxation. You never truly own your home and your land if you're forced to pay tax on it in perpetuity. I was thinking about this earlier and I think there is a reason property taxes make sense in NH, but maybe less so in other states. In NH, we have a ton ...

Property tax is the most egregious form of taxation. You never truly own your home and your land if you're forced to pay tax on it in perpetuity. Estate tax is also pretty diabolical. You paid tax on income, capital gains, etc. and when you leave everything you earned to your children when you pass...

Re: Congratulations, Todd! NJ the most Outbound State

The thing is, I’m actually not anti-tax. I feel that taxes are necessary to fund the services required to live in a community. I guess I don’t care if it is property tax or income tax, but I would prefer to select only one (unlike my experiences in other New England states). While NH has a lower tax...

Re: School Me on Joma Shop

Is the UN movement truly in-house, or is it a slightly modified ETA movement serviceable by a competent independent watchmaker? I bought my Doxa from Joma with no issues, but it is running a standard Sellita movement. My rule for Joma is the discount must exceed the anticipated cost of a major move...

Re: Congratulations, Todd! NJ the most Outbound State

I live on the Seacoast, so our property taxes are relatively low when compared to other NH towns. I guess the balance is our property values are pretty high. I know property taxes are a controversial topic in NH, but I think we are better off in NH than many other places. Then again, my perspective...

Congratulations, Todd! NJ the most Outbound State

Just saw on the news this morning that NJ is the most “outbound” state with 65% of moves being out of the state. Apparently this is the 6th year in a row NJ has earned this honor. Now, if I remember correctly, this timing aligns with when our colleague got involved in local government. I see this as...

Re: Got scammed

I’m sorry to hear this, Paul. I’m not sure what you could’ve done. I recently sold a watch on WUS to a low post count buyer and was so concerned I initially declined the sale. It was only after I got him to connect with me on LinkedIn that I went through with the sale. When it comes to online buying...

Re: Certina DS Super PH1000M

A quick PSA to current and future Certina PH1000M owners, the OEM strap has metal sleeves in the spring bar holes. I had no issues swapping to my ISOfrane, but thought I would mention it in case someone had issues removing the stock rubber strap. FWIW, I am a fan of companies who use reinforcement s...

Nice, Tom!

Here is a photo of Henry’s and my hometown from a few years ago (when we had some snow).

Re: Certina DS Super PH1000M

It does look like Olfert has both dial colors in stock as of now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’m not usually one to buy multiple variants of the same watch, but I like this one enough to consider adding the black dial to go along with my orange. The black is not a limited edition, so I figu...

Re: Certina DS Super PH1000M

For those considering buying one, I used the German AD Olfert. They ship to the US and have good communication. FYI these guys are ADs for Certina in the US. https://teddybaldassarre.com/collections/certina No affiliation and I've never purchased from them so I have no first-hand experience. It loo...

If it is anything like the King Ranch then it will be super sweet.

My friend had an F150 King Ranch a few years ago and I agree, it was one of the nicest vehicle interiors I’ve been in.

Re: Certina DS Super PH1000M

I’m glad it finally arrived, Jay! Looks great on that tropic as well. I found the stock strap was fine, but the waves in the rubber added some bulk that made it difficult to slip under a cuff. I wear mine on an ISOfrane. For those considering buying one, I used the German AD Olfert. They ship to the...
