Re: Moon phase options ~$1k?

I’d look at a gray market Longines. Looks like a few moonphase options for around $1,600.

I don’t know about something more casual. Most moonphase watches trend on the dressy side.

Re: Big divers…

At that budget, I'd be probably be looking at a Breitling Seawolf or an older 45mm Planet Ocean. I imagine there are some Panerais that would fit the bill, but I don't know enough about their pricing to suggest one. Word to the wise - Breitling takes a beating on the secondary market, so always bett...

If I were just getting into watches and didn't have a ton of money to devote to a purchase, I'd be looking pretty seriously at Tissot for good looking, reasonably priced, and by all accounts well made products.

Re: Bracelets and springbars….

Tape on the backs of the lugs. As Jacob said, someplace with good lighting and where it's easy for you to find the spring bar that will (inevitably) roll off the table or, even better, take flight across the room. I know a lot of people like the two pronged changers, but I've never had really good l...

Re: Quick question: are omega warranties…

There have been a number of anecdotal reports about this sort of thing happening with the new Speedy Pro movement, so it's a larger issue than just this watch (reminds me of the Tudor GMT date issue). But the same reports indicate that Omega's been pretty good about resolving it, so hopefully it wil...

For example, yesterday's word was "boner".

Try Octordle. You have to solve 8 words in 13 tries. There are similar versions with either two or four words.

Re: New Omegas

That ultra deep is a blatant rip off of the gradient DSSD. Omega needs to look at their back catalog -- not Rolex's current catalog. I'm not sure why they didn't use the ploprof design as the basis for the ultra deep. It still would have been unwearably thick, but at least it would have been more t...

Re: New Omegas

I like the Speedmaster '57 reissue. Good size and I like the variety of colors, especially the green. Not sure about the mechanical movement - doesn't bother me, but I don't know if that appeals to the average customer. This isn't the Speedy Pro after all, regardless of the original watch it's based...

Re: New Longines Spirit 37mm Collection

I like the Spirit collection. It's a nice, basic three handed sports watch. And at 42, 40, and now 37mm, it should be pretty easy to find one that fits. The MSRP is a little high for my taste, but you can usually find them for around $1,000 less on the second-hand market.

OP if you're still looking and don't care about box and papers, here's a link to one at a really good price from an excellent seller. Re: New Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0

When these brands make throwbacks to the quartz era, they should do them in mechanical versions. That would actually be cool and worthy of a big price tag. Think Zeitwerk-style digital display or similar. Making an actual digital quartz watch and charging thousands is just a pure money grab. I thou...

I think the 300 Master Coaxial is a solid contender, at the higher end of your price target.

That’s a good choice. Didn’t realize the price was as low as $3,500.

Re: My first Omega…

For a Seamaster with your parameters, I'd look at either a 2531.80 or a 2254.50. These are the older, pre-coaxial models with an Omega modified ETA 2892 movement (the Omega 1120). It's a great, workhorse movement. I see them listed for anywhere from $2,500 to $3,500 or so. 41mm and relatively thin. ...

Re: Tudor Pelagos FXD first impressions

Good review, thanks. I like the way the watch looks, but I have a feeling the countdown bezel wouldn't be for me, and I also still need a date on my watch even though I can't see s*** without reading glasses now. It's purely psychological.
