Re: Are people with vast collections essentially hoarders?

It sounds simplistic, but I buy watches I like. I happen to only like diver or military style watches with black dials in bead blasted steel or titanium with rotating bezels. Preferably chronographs, but some 3-handers are in the mix. In some ways, my collecting is really a search for the ultimate e...

Re: Glad I pounced on a '12 Arktis (Titan)

Love the dial, but I never pulled the trigger due to the screw down pushers (which I find annoying) and V7750 movement (instead of L5100 or SZ01).

Either way nice catch!

Re: What's up with the sellers on chrono24?

I've had a couple of "Trusted Sellers" respond that they didn't have the advertised watch, but if I wanted to buy a much crappier watch for more money, they were more than happy to help :raised:

Ah, a fair point, since all the oil filled watches are quartz. So Silicon and silicone are both correct. :salute:

The linked Acqua diver watch is filled with Silicon so the massive case can handle the pressure at its rated depth of 100 meters! Re: Liquid Silicone injected in case? ACQUA DIVER.

I believe that is to accommodate for the thermal expansion of the oil. For the Sinn oil filled watches, they use an expandable caseback to deal with some of the thermal expansion/contraction. If there's too much contraction, a bubble will form, but the caseback can handle some of it. http://farm3.s...

Re: EZM1s All Over The Place

I even bought a commando II.... just to try to get the dial/movement style, but I couldn't reconcile the European look,..... I could never get into the Tutima NATO "pillow" like cases, but for some reason adding a bezel really made it work for me. I love my EZM1's, but this new Tutima is getting a ...

Re: EZM 1 vs IWC Vintage Aquatimer--Which would you choose?

I love the Sinn EZM 1 except for the crown and pushers on the left. Very cool, very tough, very unique watch. And the Lemania touch adds to the total package in a big way. But I will say this... if you are not 100% sold on "controls" at the 9:00 position, don't buy it until you try it. Inte...

Re: EZM 1 vs IWC Vintage Aquatimer--Which would you choose?

Personally, I'd choose the EZM1. But not the LE version, since I find the engraved xxx/250 gaudy and ruins the outer surface of the watch. 3H or Ar versions are cleaner.

If you're talking Aquatimers, go for a 3536-001.

Sinn U1. I wasn't sold on the "lego" hands either when I bought mine, but once I had it and saw it in the steel, I was sold. Interesting that you posted a picture of a U1 with modded hands from a U2. I'm not crazy about the mod, since the hour markers match the lego hands. If you want a something wi...
