Re: I found one - Great White
Thanks all.....suffice it to say it was a very complicated deal.....one worth betting the whole collection on I figured.
I guess I'll be posting this in the "what are you wearing today" strings.....over and over again. New meaning to a "one trick pony."

I found one - Great White
A few weeks ago Rob (RALAustin) posted his 1665 on one of the "what are you wearing today" threads and I said something to the effect "I would trade my whole collection for a watch like that." It occurred to me in the days following if I sold all of my watches I would have the funds for a 1665 Great...

Re: Rolex 1665 Great White question
Hmmmmm then it may be legitimate after all! Mulling continues...... thanks Peter, Ben Ben, I have an 1981/2 Submariner booklet that shows both the 1665 'SeaDweller 2000' and 16660 'Sea Dweller 4000'... so they were made simultaneously... the one you're considering could be real deal... and RSC proba...

Re: Rolex 1665 Great White question
Thanks guys......good info. I think I'm going to avoid the 1983 1665. Seller says it's RSC serviced (in 2009) which gives it some credence. But it just seems too fishy. Fearful it may be a franken or a warranteed case. Too many flags. I'll follow up with HQ Milton and wait for the right one. That is...

Rolex 1665 Great White question
I'm on the hunt for a Great White and am researching the years, dials, etc. From what I can tell the 16660 production began around 1978-79.....so I'm assuming 1665 production ceased......around the 5 million ser # mark? If so, how then would you explain an 8 million 1665 production in 1982-83? A fak...

Re: trying to decide....ti/liquidmetal Planet Ocean or steel
Even if they were the price, I would take the regular ss version. Both afe killer though. I thought you were sour on it after your pelagos? That was the chronograph. As bad as I had it for the chrono I thought more about the size and figured the non-chrono in a 42mm would be a better fit for me. Th...

trying to decide....ti/liquidmetal Planet Ocean or steel PO
Hoping for some thoughts from those who've owned one or the other or both. Considering a steel 42mm Planet Ocean (later 8500 movement) or a 42mm liquidmetal/ti model. About $1400 diff between the two pre-owned watches I'm looking at. Is the Ti worth the extra loot? Is the Ti that much lighter or mor...

I WISH it was Chesty. I was too stupid to get something that actually had something to do with the the Corps.
