That is a really good looking watch. Farer has some excellent designers working for them. I'm not certain they offer a model I wouldn't wear.

Re: Audemars Piguet pulls out of SIHH

The only reasonable solution is for grey dealers to double their prices and pick up the torch. It seems like the strategy that's emerging is for brands to go online and boutique only - no ADs and therefore no grey market. AP already closed it's last AD in the SF Bay Area and apparently there's more...

Re: Alpina's Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic GMT

Dig it, but if I've gotta nitpick, it's that sometimes you fly to a timezone that's behind your current one. Isn't the whole point of an independently adjustable hour hand that it goes in both directions? Otherwise, I'll just take a standard 2893. In this case you would simply rotate the hour hand ...

Re: Alpina's Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic GMT

Looks like lug width is 23mm. Where did you see that? Not doubting you, but it wasn't on the review or the Alpina site. I'd probably wear it on leather anyway (or canvas), so the odd lug width wouldn't bother me too much. FWIW, I've been wearing my older GMT Alpina (same movement) quite a bit...

Enough with the power posting Mr. FNG.
At least he's moved onto bumping threads from this year
Stop picking on him. He has two Omega to sell and needs to get access to the sales forum.

Re: New Alpina AlpinerX

Yes, it is a big watch, but in comparison to other “smart” watches with this number of sensors is about on par.

The Garmin Fenix is either 47 or 51mm in diameter by comparison, but shorter L2L as the Alpina is pretty long at 55mm. This would probably hang off either side of my wrist.

I love these. They are one of the nicest looking GMT watch designs (IMHO) on the market today.

I’d love to be able to check on out in person.

Re: New Alpina AlpinerX

The only thing I don’t like about this is the battery, although even this has some positives. It uses a standard battery, not a rechargeable one. If you sync this with your phone, they say it’ll kill the battery quickly (I forgot the time, but maybe about a year). On the positive side, the watch wil...

Still wearing the Alpina. Really like this thing. The silver/white dial with red and blue highlights is something different in my collection of mostly black-faced watches.

Ha! If you can't align it in the renders, the chances of it being aligned in real life are probably nil.

Re: Where the hell is (BBK) Ben ?!

Glad to hear you are doing well. I think many of us are in a similar situation in one way or another. I get enjoyment from sub $1K watches and I am highly selective when I purchase above that range. The discipline comes in with being able to enjoy seeing other's photos of their new purchases without...

It has been a while since I've ridden a sports bike with (let's just say) "enthusiasm", but those guys are completely on another level. Watching those clips tells you just how close they are to the edge throughout that race. They are constantly either accelerating so hard the front tire is unweighte...

Re: Thinking about next purchase.

I don't mind the screw down pushers, but I'd like the Tudor more if they'd ditched the black bay hands and large crown. And I think it's a "dive chrono" in name only. It's nice that it has a 200m WR, but I have a hard time calling a chronograph with a tachy scale a dive watch. Always liked the look...

Re: Thinking about next purchase.

Personally, I want to like the Tudor more. I like the vintage feel of the rivet bracelet and, generally speaking, I don't like the faux-vintage of artificially aged lume (this is a general statement, not a knock specifically against the Omega). That said, I find diving chronographs a bit of an odd d...
