Any lume shots, Todd? side by side with the CD-2, but this CD-2 has a lume second hand. http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy175/t20569cald/lume_zps3a0553eb.jpg Applique hour makers, filled with Superluminova BGW-9C1. I think these would look great on alligator. Maybe the white dial with black alligator/white stitch.

It arrived today and looks better than I thought. The dial, hands, and case are in great shape. I've already sent it to IWW.

Re: My first vintage. Seiko 6217

Jack emailed this back "That's a good looking example. Dial/hands are AOK. If it were my watch I'd install a reproduction insert. They look terrific and the watch will really pop. You can always keep the original stored away if you ever decide to sell the watch." Sounds good. Now- where did you fin...

Re: My first vintage. Seiko 6217 "62mas"

I'll send Jack an email and call him tomorrow to discuss. I'll keep the case, dial, and hands original.

Should I leave the bezel insert or is it acceptable to use an aftermarket replacement?

Thanks everyone. I'll convey to Randall that I'd like it kept as original as possible. I'm sure he'll know what to do.

Re: My first vintage. Seiko 6217 "62mas"

The lume looks decent. I'd tend towards leaving it, as long as it's decent looking. You can change a crystal and bezel, just keep the originals, but once you relume, you lose originality. Only worth it if the lume is terrible or flaking off, IMO. Thanks for the thoughts. Since this is my first rest...

My first vintage. Seiko 6217 "62mas"

This Seiko 6217 is due to arrive tomorrow. It's not in great shape, but I plan on shipping it to Dr Seiko, AKA Randall Benson, for a complete restoration. Hopefully a new crystal, bezel insert, movement service, and relume of hands and dial. I probably won't get it back for many months, but I'm look...

Re: The big one (for me) has landed

Took awhile, 3 years in fact, but it is built! Cell phone pics only so far, as I just put it together right now. There was a case back with a scratch, so I used it for myself. Bezel is Kolsterised, and looks good. More to follow next week. http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy175/t20569cald/2014111...

Wow, I love this new matte blue dial. The sunray blue of the last version was nice but this is incredible. I hope it doesn't get discontinued. It's definitely on my list.

Hi all, I really thought this was going to be my next purchase but i haven't been able to get over the PCL's and faux patina in all the shots from new owners of it and before its managed to even show up at my local Omega Boutique a Zenith El Primero caught my attention in another jewellers display ...

Re: An Open Letter from Roger W. Smith

Great article. It reminds me of Haagen-Dazs. They started in Brooklyn, NY. They put the flag of Denmark on the package and a European name and everyone thought it was from Denmark. They never actually said made in Denmark, but it sure helped them sell a lot of ice cream. Can't blame them for using i...
