Re: Guinand

Thanks Matt. That's too big for me, and stupidly they don't offer that design in a smaller size. It's a really good looking watch. It's like a Damasko but without the goofy shit that they always do to their watches.

"Today, if you want to make watches called Joe Thompson, you go to any one of the several ètablisseurs [i.e., private-label watch companies] and they make them for you. I love it but like others too pricey for me. Here's my question- you have 13K and you walk into a respective AD, there's a stainless Daytona and this Speedy which one you buying? I'm surprised nobody has crapped on the 'fauxtina' yet :). I think it actually looks pretty well done here.
I'm a hater of piss lume but either I'm getting used to it, or this one is well done, because it doesn't bother me.

Re: New “Ed White” Speedmaster

Looks great, and I'd probably own one. However, I can't get with this "watches as expensive as a car down payment" thing. I'm conditioned to think of Omega as a 3k-4.5k brand and Rolex as a 4.5k-6k brand. I can't believe people are willing to drop five figures on mass market brands like that on the ...

As I understand it, it was started by Sinn (the guy) after selling Sinn the brand. I've always viewed it as the closet thing you can get to Sinn before they tried to go upmarket and more fancy. Every owner who's ever talked to me about the brand were big fans.

Re: ROLEX raises prices 3 to 4 percent.

For what it's worth, I was flipping through some old issues of WatchTime the other day, and came across a comparison test between an Omega Seamaster 2231 and a Rolex Submariner 16610 in the June 2000 issue. The list price for the Sub was $3,350. Because the article is nearly twenty years old, I rea...

You're in the UK. A Kia probably costs $70,000 and runs on $20 per gallon gas.

IIRC, Rolex hasn’t had a price increase on steel sport models in 6 years, so a 4% increase isn’t out of line considering inflation. With demand out pacing production, I’m surprised the increase isn’t more.
It could have been 25% and it wouldn't have really made a difference.

Re: ROLEX raises prices 3 to 4 percent.

If Rolex raises prices on unavailable watches, do they really cost more? guess we can see what happens on watchrecon, chrono24 and davidsw et al... although i think the answer will be “a rising tide raises all boats”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk A 4% increase in MSRP should result in... abou...

Not really a movie, but has anyone watched "The Witcher" on Netflix? I don't want to say too much, but it's slyly good TV.
