Re: Need an opinion on a Speedy Pro

I might even be interested in some/all of the LE parts as spares.

Re: Need an opinion on a Speedy Pro

I own the real version of that watch. There's a lot of value in the LE parts now that ofrei doesn't sell stuff like that anymore.

What's the trade value? A cheap watchmaker would probably charge $200 to swap back. I'd hit up Terry for a quote.

Re: The New Timeless Grand Seiko SBGE249 Limited Edition

I love the looks but 41mm is just too big for this sort of watch on me. I'd much rather have one of these than a Rolex DJ, and that's saying something.

Re: At least we know where all of the Rolexes are going

I realize Andrew is joking, but I do think that a nontrivial amount of Rolex (and AP and PP) watches are used as money laundering devices. Nobody would look at you twice if you traveled with three or four watches (worth anywhere from $40,000-$400,000) in your bag. You could never do that with cash.

I pulled mine out from the box this morning because my daughter wanted to see it (I still haven't sized/worn it :banghead:) and the 14060m is just perfect. Re: Hodinkee/Blancpain 07/17/19

One just showed up on WUS for 15,000 - decent ROI Assuming it actually sells for anywhere near that. All that needs to happen is for a single watch to "sell" for that price from some David SW type and then the cycle begins. That's why most of my disposable income has been going to things other than...

As long as there's a hope that people will buy, other people will hoover up everything in 10 seconds in order to sell. Pretty lame.

Re: Swatch Group Announces Fall in Sales for 1st half

I don't know about the continued push up market. It works for Rolex because they're Rolex (and if it remains impossible to get desirable models, even Rolex may take a hit). Nobody else has that luxury, so I wonder if they're going to continue to suffer if they push their prices up. It's been a long...

I like it, but a 38mm Diver is either weirdly shaped (long lugs, etc) or SMALL. Just copy the 14060m size.

Falling sales? Keep raising prices and get rid of discounts!

The watch industry is a study of brilliant management. All Rolex has to do is not fuck up and they win by default.

Re: Hodinkee/Blancpain 07/17/19

With the apparent popularity of the newer 40mm Blancpain models I can see something like a TTFF in 40mm. Whatever it is it’ll be expensive and sell out immediately. It could be a knock off of the new BP "one watch". That would be an instant sell out. Yea, I could see a faux-patina ‘dink version bei...
