Ok, I’ve been following this, and it’s time to state the obvious -

Let’s take shameless advantage of the new guy and get him to host a mid-West GTG at his place.

I know that in the corner of the Empty Quarter I was in, it was most likely heavy handed, inept Internet filtering and blockage.

It looks to me like I could make one of them out of fittings from the plumbing aisle at Home Depot and a couple cans of Krylon. Source a movement from the dashboard clock of a Nepalese fire truck, and it’s a license to print money.

Anonimo, Swatch, Mercer, and now Akura. At least we can pronounce it, unlike a lot of micros that choose the absolute worse names. I really like the black variant. I’m certain I don’t have the wrist for it tho [emoji31] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The black version (BJ7110-89E) looks pretty good, and 43mm in titanium isn't that huge. Eco-Drive, titanium, 43mm, traveler GMT function, sapphire, 200 Meter WR, under $500. Now, if they could make it just a bit better looking.

I buzzed around with a Blade MCx (I think) for a while. Mini coaxial helo. It’s an indoor only bird, but surprisingly challenging to fly well. A hoot to fly, the cat hated it.

Re: HELP! Can't Identify This Watch!

This is the last that we will see of the OP. It was just a join to find info kind of deal. Probably, and we’ll never know if that’s a good thing or bad. Of course, I started joining watch forums to find information, way back when. We have unwritten rules and expectations here that all us old hands ...

Re: HELP! Can't Identify This Watch!

It’s a basic Seiko quartz style. Probably just a custom face made as a company gift. That’s what I was thinking. The last U.S. five star was Omar Bradley, who died in 1981. I kinda doubt anyone would set up a pretty ordinary Seiko quartz gold tone watch from Seiko’s “look like a Rolex” years as a g...

Need an opinion on a Speedy Pro

I’m being offered a trade for my IWC. It’s a Speedy Pro, 2017 vintage. Here’s the thing, though. The previous owner had the dial, bezel, and hands swapped out by a watchmaker for the Gemini IV set, blue with polished hands. He’s not trying to pass it off as a real LE, he’s quite up front that it was...

Re: Going Quartz, Never Thought It Would Happen

I’m getting that way myself. If the IWC ever sells, I’m gonna be chasing something in an “upscale” quartz like an X-33 or some form of Breitling Superquartz or GS quartz. All this talk about mechanical watches having a soul where quartz doesn’t is a bit silly. By that logic, a Swatch System 51 is a ...

Not a fan of “vintage” lime, but if you’re going to use it, make the hands and dial match.

Re: Recent trip to Maryland

I went to Nuclear Power School at Bainbridge in 1972. Spent time in both places. When Hurricane Agnes came up the river, the residents of Port Deposit (if memory serves) evacuated to the base. Afterwards, I drove through town and the high water marks were about 9 feet up the buildings by the river.
