Looking sharp! Nice work.
You're inspiring me to get the Alfa back on the road.
Outta curiosity, what model Alfa? I took on a ‘69 GTV 1750 project a long while back. Apparently, Marelli is Italian for “Lucas rejects”.

Maybe Japanese fences or pawnshops are more sophisticated, but in the US he’d be lucky to get$50. It looks like a mall kiosk watch.

Re: Marc from Island Watches Now Selling

The fact that these cases, bezels, crystals, crowns, and movements are all available from Crystal Times does seem to make his “own watch brand” a bit easier to do. Maybe he’s making his own stuff, but I doubt it. Design your own dial, assemble, sell, enjoy profit. Seems pretty straightforward. I su...

Re: Marc from Island Watches Now Selling "The Islander" . . .

I don't understand what makes this very direct copy compelling... A lot of people, myself included, like the SKX a lot. I’ve always thought of it as a classic design, even the Seiko hands. A very comfortable watch, with a great case execution. But there were those few shortcomings, the 7S26 shake n...

Re: Tudor Military Subs - Sounds like lots of fakes out there

I have a genuine early 70s hand wind Vulcain that I can personally verify was worn by a genuine Engine Room Supervisor on a genuine nuclear submarine making genuine deterrent patrols with (maybe) genuine nuclear tipped missiles. It even has a genuine acrylic crystal cracked on a nuclear plant hand w...

Re: Fake Turtle's!

I'm pretty ignorant about Seikos in general, but aren't the authentic versions of these watches about $300? If so, why on earth would anyone entertain the idea of buying a fake? who said the buyer knew it was a fake? but drew you have to remember not everyone is cool with paying $300 for a watch. s...

Even in the pictures, a red date wheel is harder to read quickly than white. If it’s about functionality, white on black beats red any day. At night, under red light, the date would completely disappear.

It looks to me like I could make one of them out of fittings from the plumbing aisle at Home Depot and a couple cans of Krylon. Source a movement from the dashboard clock of a Nepalese fire truck, and it’s a license to print money.
