I’m still wrapping my head around the idea that I watched the landing 50 years ago.

Re: SBDC051 or 061?

Nick,

I really appreciate the offer, but I’m still on back side of the world. Won’t be back in the US until early August. Shipping stuff here is silly expensive, unreliable, and the Customs guys are unreasonable.

SBDC051 or 061?

Can anyone do a compare/contrast between these two? Haven’t seen either in person and I’m curious what separates the two? I’m thinking one good midrange 6R Seiko diver would be a plus for me, but I can’t really decide. For what it’s worth, I’m a black dial bracelet kinda guy.

Thanks,
Henry

Re: GS SBGV243, SBGV245 & SBGV247 Review

I didn’t see the pricing. Seiko is out of control recently. I don’t know if I agree when we’re talking Grand Seiko. I would put the 9F movement family up against a Swiss auto for engineering, innovation, and build quality. There’s no question in my mind about the fit, finish, and casework. And I fi...

Re: Hmmmmmm..... Astron might be going mainstream

I’m curious about the case shape, myself. Looking at it head on, it almost looks like the case has sloped sides a la MM 300. Could be a more interesting case shape than one flat picture shows.

Hmmmmmm..... Astron might be going mainstream

This on Seiko’s website. Not available until September, 41.4 mm, no ceramic bezel. Looks a bit GS almost. Read more here https://www.seikowatches.com/global-en/news/20190321-8

Re: Monta Atlas GMT

I don’t get what the big deal is with that hand. The watch is nice but a bit small. There is a lot I like but something is off, not sure what it is. I just don’t want to drop that much on it. I prefer their new No Date with red secondhand [emoji106] For me, it’s the lack of an outer turning/marked ...

And they’ll produce a bunch and flood the dealers to distract from the GMT date wheel fiasco.

Re: New Tudor Sub?

Tudor can tease all they want, and they do make some great watches. But, if they can't produce, what's the point? I still haven't seen a GMT in the flesh at any of the half dozen Rolex/Tudor dealers in the capital of one of the richest countries on Earth.

If I really had to do this, I guess it would be Apple watch and an SKX007.

Beautiful and awesome. I'm currently looking at a Caterham for the same reasons as a retirement gift to myself. Yeah, same here. Blondie’s anti-motorcycle so a Caterham 7 in BRG is gonna be my retirement toy. Opening sequence of The Prisoner sold it for me. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z0rio3IPXXU

Are we that busy that if you don’t have a winder for your autos or it’s a mechanical, that taking 30 seconds or so to set it is an issue?

I’m pretty sure I’ve decided to go all quartz. Wind it, set it (is it morning or afternoon? Take a full run around the dial to be sure). Just don’t do it between 8 PM and 4 AM. Or grab an SKX and shake for about 10 minutes to give it a decent wind. Grab and go? Nope, gotta wind it and set it first. ...

Re: New Anonimo Nautilo Vintage

Tom, I have to say I do like that one as a watch. As a classic Anonimo fan, the only hint I see is in the crown guard. The price is a bit steep, but I’m not a Sellita hater like some. They make as good a Swiss movement as ETA, just not for a zillion years.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a BB or BB58 black dial/black bezel without the gilt. Yeah, I know, that turns it into a Sub wannabe, but I’d still like it.
