Re: IWC Tribute to 3705

If you can live without a ceramic case, I'd track down a nice example of the 3706. You get the real deal with the classic dial for a fraction of the price. Or, go for the new Spitfire Chronograph for $6K with the same in-house movement as the 3705 Tribute. This was the easy answer for me. The 3777-...

Re: IWC Tribute to 3705

Plus the TG keeps the SS pushers which I like as it adds contrast to the all black case. $12k is a tough pill. Online exclusive. Clever, no one will ever know how many they sell (6-8 probably) Also being online only, the delta widens even further. Full MSRP plus tax. So ~13K-ish vs $6500 for Top Gu...

Re: IWC Tribute to 3705

They have absolutely failed building any value.
There’s nothing in it worth price hike of $4000 over this one which is actually ceramic and not baked titanium, and can be easily had from AD for $6300-6500

Re: WRUW 24 FEB 21

Barton makes decent 21mm straps- I just used my own lug pins instead of their quick release ones. Swapped to this after picking up a couple of new, cheap rubber strap options. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210224/c63dbef9afd5bc0ef7099a20a104e25f.jpg I meant non-silicone. Sub41 on an old rubber strap https://media.fotki.com/2v2HzT8BqxAqZad.jpg Not saying it looks bad by any means. Just never thought I’d see the day where Art wears an ISO. It’s too thick for the watch but I was curious if I could squeeze 22mm strap in 21mm lugs. It’s coming off shortly  I think ...

Re: New Hodinkee Collaboration w/ IWC

They didn’t need to “ceramicize” the crowns if they wanted it to look authentic. And again the whole case should have just been ceramic for $7-8K. Also I like old school numerals better, 1, 10, 11 in particular the European way of writing number 1

Re: Rubber Solid Endlink Strap for Tudor BB

I think it depends on the wrist size and the shape of the flat area of it.
I had the same problem with Crafter Blue on Pelagos. It made the watch stand up off my wrist by a good gap

Re: New Hodinkee Collaboration w/ IWC

The firearms industry has used titanium–titanium boride composites processed by three powder metallurgy techniques hot isostatic pressing, spark plasma sintering and vacuum sintering for a long time. Its old technology. Glocks - "tenifer" for example is essentially the same technology. Makes sense....
