Re: New Hamilton Khaki Field Reissue

The brown looks nicer I think. I do have a lot of black dialed watches so brown would make for some variety  You should get rid of that ugly black dial Planet Ocean. If you do, let me know and I’ll help dispose of that eyesore. :) If I decide to get rid of it you'll be the first to kn...

Re: New Hamilton Khaki Field Reissue

I'm going to pick one of these up and I'm trying to decide on dial color. Leaning towards the black but the brown is appealing as a change of pace. Has anyone seen the brown dial in person yet and care to share their impressions? None of my local ADs have one to look at. It does look a bit bland in ...

Aside from the strap, I honestly don't see much "vintage racing" in the design. The model name (a mountain in Spain) doesn't really help with the racing connection either.

Re: Doxa 1500 T II screw lug bars

Doxa's policy must have changed because I purchased a set of lug bars for the 800Ti from them a couple of years ago. I think it took Mike 3 years to get the screw bars for his long gone 800ti. He never got them. I ordered them on a lark to see if they'd actually show up, and they did, but...

All of the big groups diversify like this. Swatch Group has Flik Flak, Balmain and CK Watch, LVMH has Hublot :)

Re: Jason Heaton Takes the new JLC Polaris Memovox Diving

Read that article this morning and frankly I would think that brands would put more qc on watches that will go around the press. Seems to me that it would be worth it to ensure one does not get bad publicity. To however say well this was a proto and give JLC a pass is a bit thin for me since I seri...

Re: Jason Heaton Takes the new JLC Polaris Memovox Diving

I think there are a few here that would have been buyers if the crowns screwed down like the LLD, but less interested now. I was all set yep. It's like the article reads I would be more afraid of snagging on one of the 3 crowns and flooding the watch washing my hands, who cares about diving You can...

When did it become acceptable practice to overlap elements of a watch dial in such a way as to create an incomprehensible mess?

This was obviously a promo watch for the article/review, but I’d be worried about flooding a $12k watch at depth.
I'd be really surprised if anyone bought this watch with the intention of diving with it. It is a diver like the LLD is a supercompressor - in appearance only.

Re: New JLC Polaris Geographic WT LE

Interesting strap release mechanism. I don't think I've seen it on a JLC before. My wife's $500 Hamilton has the exact same thing. Here's the ebay special version https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/bTkAAOSw1URave~~/s-l1600.jpg  Yeah, but the JLC's are curved. I'm sure that requires a proprietary...

Congrats, looks perfect on your wrist. I'd personally keep it on the rubber strap, I don't think it works as well on leather.

I'm channeling my inner Chestnut here, but I think the special screwdriver is going to have to double as a magic wand if it's going to make this watch look half decent.

The original is a better design in almost every way. The modern one is high quality, but the dial, case, and pushers are so inelegant compared to the original.
I have to completely agree with this. I think that Timeless did an admirable job but the original is better in pretty much every way.

Re: Longines Heritage Skin Diver Review

Doesn’t suck, but as much as I’ve been infatuated with the modern vintage look, I think I’m pretty over faux aged lume. What’s wrong with making a watch like the old model but making it actually look new? Vintage watch collectors seem to be enamored with the color of aged tritium dials. If you like...

I think Longines has been one of the more interesting watch companies the last few years, especially if you like vintage-inspired watches. One could put together a pretty nice collection at a reasonable price just from the Longines Heritage collection alone. https://timeandtidewatches.com/wp-content...

I like it but the hands really needed to be longer and thicker. They look pretty consistent with those of the original. https://hodinkee.imgix.net/uploads/images/1524145906172-klvh62f0ium-8323d07a5a320c9bca0c63f2c1422607/DSCF6985.jpg https://hodinkee.imgix.net/uploads/images/1524163810812-z46p639zq...
