Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?

Don't mess around. If you're going to do this, go big. 15202 or Nautilus. Don't waste your time or your money on the other stuff. A lot of folks recommend the 15202 over 15400. I know the 15202 has the direct link to the original jumbo and the movement is beautiful to look at, but they're more expe...

Cool. I read the article and saw there are over 1500 national days. Maybe we need National Calendar Day.

Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?

I've had several opportunities to try on the latest Overseas watches and am a fan - I particularly like the chronograph. I prefer the new designs over the previous generation and really like the way the watches look/feel on the wrist. However, when it came down to it I went with the AP 15400. I pref...

Habring2 Doppel-Felix Split Seconds Chronograph

I've admired these from afar for a long time. Very cool complication by the inventor of the IWC Doppelchronograph movement. This latest iteration is the best looking yet, IMO. https://hodinkee.imgix.net/uploads/images/1528231302785-erxv56vyu3n-660815296919ec42325f47bd0ac8be54/P5240732.jpg?ixlib=rail...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

With watches being purely fashion these days I think original design is everything. Not trying to be a jerk here and I totally respect the differences in opinion on this topic, but this design is actually from EPSA and was used by a half dozen companies way back. EPSA went out of business in 1975, ...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

Whether or not a watch is still in production is irrelevant IMO. You don't own the design, you can't use it. I can't personally support a watch company whose entire strategy is to profit from someone else's IP. So, taking watches as the subject matter out of the equation, by your standard, this is ...

Omega didn’t sue Helson when they did the Ploprof copy as far as I know. (Yeah, this isn’t the first time they have done a blatant copy).

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

Oh hell yeah I'm getting that. can't find a no date LLD, Polaris is a poser joke of a diver, Alpina has a f-ed up date window at 4:15. This is it for the compressor. Thanks for the heads up wasn't there a LLD no date for sale here recently? Perhaps the price seemed a bit nutty if i recall, unless t...

Had the grey dial for a few weeks on loan and couldn't live with the date window.

If it were centered between the markers it might have a hope of working, but as is it's a fail.

While I'd certainly prefer an LLD no-date to the date version, I actually think the date version looks pretty good - much better than this blatant ripoff from Helson with the awful yellow lume. Hopefully the Swatch Group will sue Helson out of existence. http://www.topperjewelers.com/brands/pre_owne...

Re: Sinn 836-936 video from P&C

The 936 looks like a bit of a tuna can. If it's truly 15mm then I guess it's not any worse than the typical 7750 based chronograph, but it sure looks thick in that video.

Re: New Hamilton Khaki Field Reissue

I think overall it’s a nice watch. The lugs have a bad design though, and I never liked the fake aged lume. This said, there are many many watches that cost twenty times as much that suck twenty times as much. It’s ok to be forgiving when a watch is cheap. The fale aged lume is really the only crit...

the smaller bezel on the iwc makes the dial huge:
It's 38mm, nothing about the Mk. XV is huge :)

In terms of size, they don't look that different to me in that pic.

They are, mug to mug is 48.
At least they're not ugly mugs ;)
