Re: Timeless in Texas

there's always Hoodwinkee now who's an official Omega AD... sure to be deals there  I think the days of ADs and their discounts are numbered. Online and boutique-only sales are the future. Have you noticed that many new watches from the big brands can only be purchased online at their e-comme...

Re: Longines Heritage Military 1938

You could make a good collection from Longines Heritage reissues. I like these, but there's also the Big Eye Chrono, LLD, sector dial... all of which are remakes of older classic designs. https://www.longines.com/uploads/watch/part1/heritage_fake-L2.819.4.93.2-350x720.png https://www.longines.com/u...

That is sharp looking. It would probably wear much better at 40mm.
That would be the first reissue scaled down from the original :)

nice looking watch, but hour hand seems kinda long?
It is fairly long but I think it looks ok. FWIW, it was like that on the original too.

That’s gorgeous. I’m amazed they didn’t modify the movement to have a date display.

Longines Heritage Military 1938

Longines continues to churn out interesting Heritage reissues like the new Heritage Military 1938. The watch is 43mm in diameter (the same as the original) and 10mm thick. Movement is the Unitas 6498. Limited to 1938 pieces. Comes on either a leather or NATO strap. Priced at $2450. https://watchesby...

I wonder what happened with the Swatch Group lawsuit.
No idea. It seems to have disappeared. I do know Fox news was interviewing Vortic at Wind Up this year.
Looks like it's still ongoing...

Lets talk about other brands. Try getting parts for Luminox, Longiness, Eterna are a few off the top my head I can think of we have personally dealt with. That is why I said do not limited that train of thought to just microbrands. There are a shit ton of larger brands that will leave you in the du...

Re: Car Spotting

996TT is a great buy these days. If you can find a relatively low mile example that has had the IMS bearing issue addressed, it’s a great deal and value. No IMS issues with the 996TT actually. They are a great buy. If I could make one happen, I would. Right, Mezger engine doesn't have an IMS bearing.

I dislike any watch with skeleton hands so that's a no for me.
I'm usually of the same opinion, but that peek-a-boo hour hand that doesn't hide the hour numeral is pretty clever.

It’s in Nautilus/Royal Oak territory. It’s different and not a Genta clone.
It's $10K above Royal Oak territory.

Re: So who's buying the Odysseus?

That's pretty awful. And for nearly $30K it's time for Lange to figure out how to build a big date complication that puts the two digits in the same plane - without the need for a bar between the digits to try and hide the fact that they aren't. GO does it for a fraction of the cost. https://hodinke...

As long as the watch has the appropriate level of water resistance then I don't care how it's implemented. There are many iconic dive watches that do not have screw-down crowns.

Not me. I think the Longines is the nicer of the two watches. I'd also feel more comfortable owning a watch from a Swatch group company than a relatively new upstart.

I'm going to sound like Mike here, but you can buy an original on a GF bracelet for a lot less than that. Nobody in their right mind would pay $38K for a Tag reissue.

Audi's Virtual Cockpit does a much better job. I just bought an S3 to use a daily driver and looked around for one without the VC. I spend enough time looking at a computer screen, I don't want to look at one while I'm driving. The analog gauges look much better IMHO. My reference to Audi Virtual C...
