Paul and his “burners” 😆
ha - I wish I could "burn" my gov issued phone. I once dropped my blackberry on a submarine and it fell two decks and landed on a steel grate. I was initially thrilled because I assumed it had exploded.. no such luck. Not even a scratch :raised:

Re: Introduction & Advice needed

As Paul states, definitely take a "quality over quantity" approach if you can. That said, you can certainly find good quality from respected manufacturers at the more affordable end of the spectrum, especially if you buy used from flippers like Paul  Modestly priced watches that I really enjoy...

Re: SMP 2254 or 2264

hmmm I actually like skeleton hands.. I've had a few 2254's and I think it's a great piece (although not at the current ridiculous selling prices) but I'm sooo tired of sword hands.. I have an SmpC right now and although it's not a forum favorite by any means, it's pretty bad ass in every respect - ...

Re: Diving....

Lol a bit ridiculous, actually

A helium escape valve is actually only required for saturation diving, during decompression in a chamber but we’re missing the main point which is 10,000 feet is way overkill. Still cool tho :)

Re: Introduction & Advice needed

Welcome to DWC  I wish someone had told me this when I started out (about $50k ago) but quality over quantity ;) Save another thousand bucks, give or take, and buy a Sinn U1. You’ll still feel the need to upgrade later as this is more of an addiction than a hobby, but the Sinn would hang aro...

Re: SmpC ratcheting clasp

They are indeed transformative. Adding an 117STZ001154 on my PO GMT and Speedy made them supremely comfortable. Speedy required end links too, PO GMT did not. I currently have the smaller version - 117STZ004666 - that has only three positions as opposed to six for the 117STZ001154, sitting around. ...

Anyone try one? I’ve read only good things and that there are three versions. Any feedback? Anyone have one they aren’t using?

Re: Seiko Prospex Limited Editions

I may have missed it, but what are they asking for the Tunas? I recently tried on one of the lower case solar models at the Navy exchange and it was quite comfy. They only had a grey one, which I didn’t like, and the quartz killed it for me.. I could see getting a black/auto.

Re: Traditional M-51/M-65 field jackets

Filson still any good for jackets? I tried on the Northway tonight and I liked the feel of it much more than the Barbour I tried. Perfect amount of insulation too. Thinking about going back and getting it. I have a Filson weekender that I’ve had for several years. It’s been good jacket. Good qualit...

Pre-owned? I think Topper has some of the fairest pre-owned prices on watches amongst all the online retailers.
They really do. For the most part, they are cheaper or very competitive with the “power sellers” plus they typically offer a 2 year Topper warranty
