Those new supras are a mess.
Somehow they manage to be awesome and awful at the same time.

It does appeal to the 10yr old in me

Re: Car Spotting

I dumped the Defender, as I could not deal with the “unpredictable coolness” of the Beast. It broke down one too many (three times in a month) times for me. I picked up a 2013 XTerra Pro 4X with low kms. My RTT mounts well, new BFG KO2’s...should be good for some camping trips! https://uploads.tapa...

The movement doesn't attract all that much. Not that interesting to look at. Unprotected crown. Partial bezel indexing. Meh.

Are they really the same vehicles?? Looks like the wheel-base and several other things are different.

43mm is the sweet spot for a diver IMO. That is the same as the Bluering...which was the perfect size.

Re: Crappy photos

I think lots of software that posts pics online, like Tapatalk and WhatsApp, will resample and downsize the pic before posting it. Also, some forums change the resolution of pics before they are viewed onscreen - Forumotion does this. I doubt there is any problem with the phone cameras.

Re: New SKX007 Variants

Seiko could fuck up a wet dream. All they had to do was release a line of SKXs with the 4R36 movement. That’s what I was thinking when I saw these. And no screw down crown is absolute horse poo poo as well. Seiko 5's have rarely had screw down crowns. It diver styled but it's not a dive watch, why ...

Received today, love it! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190702/f8889e959f921bf467f1216c8dc7a0c9.jpg I'm glad it found a great DWC home. It's a great watch and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It saw a ton of diving, never missed a beat and still looks new. The Bremont case is superb. Hope ...

Re: Seriously...come on

Buying a working truck with good off-road ability is not that expensive...but for a fashion item like the Gladiator you pay the earth. There is a seemingly endless supply of aspirational buyers for fashionable products that hammers the price. Step outside of those narrow lines and things become reas...

Re: Engine Tuners

Is this for turbo cars? My understanding is normally aspirated engines can't really be made much more efficient with a remap, so if you make them more powerful they are really just sucking down more fuel.

Re: another Hodinkee collaboration: seiko alpinist

Maybe I've just never learned it properly, but I just can't seem to get past compass points on a watch with no compass... It just bugs the hell out of me for some reason, even though admittedly here they are not too obtrusive. All 3-handers work as a compass using the sun. The capacity to take a mo...

New Star Trek is fantastic. Even better than the first JJ one. Gives me high hopes for Star Wars. This. What a stunning flick. Not only is it balls-to-the-wall action/sci-fi goodness, but their excellent sense for casting continues with the guy playing the main villain. No spoilers, but the BBC She...

What dive table is it referencing on the bezel? Whatever it is its even more conservative than PADI recreational tables. Strange

Re: Diving....

I was curious how a watch like the Breitling Avenger Seawolf has a water resistance to an insane 10,000 feet? Does it not require a helium escape valve as well? All that WR and they put knobbly bits on top of the bezel so its as easy as possible for things to knock it off-setting. Seiko did the sam...

Community service notice: if you have issues and manage to kill an iphone Apple will tell you any data not backed up is lost. Its true they don't offer a data recovery service but there are people who do (iPad Rehab, etc). Apple currently won't acknowledge these services (or even admit they exist). ...

Re: Cutting up a Zulu - 10 min project

Did pretty well...though I think ToxicNATO's business is still pretty safe ;-)

Ideally watch lugs curve or angle down to be near as possible to level with the case back. Otherwise you have these issues and the thing perches precariously on the wrist and straps like NATO's just don't work.
