MM on a new bracelet. https://i.imgur.com/nTJF29y.jpg Nice! Thanks! My only complaint is I can't get it to work with genuine Seiko spring bars (1.1-mm tips). The bars they provide have a 2.5-mm tube with smaller tips. This sort of thing is par for the course with these aftermarket bracel...

Re: Seiko 6105 Apocalypse Reissue LE

Mike if you know where to get an original in excellent and serviced condition I would appreciate if you pointed me in that direction. Thanks! I own one that the previous owner had restored by IWW. It isn't perfect, but it looks good and runs well for a nearly 46-year-old watch. That said, I would g...

How do you like living in Norway? Did you learn Norwegian, or can you get by speaking English? I like living here! It's a very beautiful country, and so far, it hasn't been terribly Cold. My trip to Oslo yesterday had it's moments though, hod to drive over the mountain between Oslo and Haugesund, r...

Least Leak-Prone Watch Battery

My SBBN007 "Tuna" has been running off its original Seiko SB-A8 (SR43SW equivalent) battery for 10 years and 3 months.

I'm going to replace it for peace of mind. I'm having a hard time finding the Seiko-branded battery. What's the next-best brand (the least leak-prone)? Is Renata ok?

Thanks!

Re: Seiko 6105 Apocalypse Reissue LE

From what I've seen, everything that made that watch great stems, in one way or another, from the fact that it was affordable to begin with and I wish they kept to that. That's the impression I got, too. It was a more affordable alternative to the Rolex Submariner. The 6105 was a blue-collar dive w...

Re: Hodinkee to open multi-brand retail showroom in SoHo

I was at a client that ironically, is in the same building. Didn't even realize it till I saw it on the directory...it's a very "meh" building. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Is it on Greene? I used to live on Greene St (the stretch that's north of the NYU dorms). My wife used to love to look ...

That's cool. The white date balances with the 9 o'clock index, while the black day blends in with the dial.

Re: Turdle bracelets and clasps.

Honestly since Uncle Seiko came around I stopped dealing with Strapcode unless I have too. I've bought a few of these China-sourced solid-link bracelets made for Seiko cases from various vendors (e.g. Will Jean, Strapcode). In almost every case, there's been a small problem, such as a stiff link, s...

Yeah I happen to have an extra mm300 clasp in the spare watch parts case. It’s a direct fit, eh?
It should fit any bracelet that tapers to 18 mm at the clasp.

Re: Seiko 6105 Apocalypse Reissue LE

Anyone know what the MSRP of a 6105 was back in the day? I wonder what it would be today, adjusted for inflation. A quick search showed $175 in 1969 if that was accurate. The calculator I found said that would be just over $1200 today. So, not in SKX007 territory, but not "high end", either.

Re: Seiko 6105 Apocalypse Reissue LE

it looks like they are using that same shit crown lock design. that is a disappointment. i am sure this will be like the 62mas re-edition and cost over 3k ...and they'll have a more affordably-priced "reissue" with a 6R15 that's twice the size, a la the SBDC051. Seiko. They always almost get it rig...
