Re: Dagaz Diamondback

Profile shots aren't its strongest photo angle, that's for certain! I think it is a really interesting business idea and perfect for the modding community. Does Jake offer an "assembly service" or is it up to the customer to buy the kit they wish and have the watch assembled locally? *edit* just rea...

Re: Seaforth preorders tomorrow 1/18

I agree. I'm probably one of the type of guys Halios wants to attract. I've not tried a Halios product before, but the (ETA) Seaforth was a model that I would've liked to try. The way this ordering process seems to be (not) working, however, has turned me from being a potential buyer into a casual o...

Re: Incoming & Review....Vertex M100

I think the non-screw down crown on a hand wound movement is a fine choice, especially when they use enough seals to maintain 100 meters water resistance. My Hamilton has this as well. Looking at the side photo makes me wish the crown was signed (again, like my Hamilton has). Out of curiosity, how d...

Re: Incoming & Review....Vertex M100

It definitely is a cool watch, Hop, and I appreciate the time it took to create the review. I'm still not 100% behind the sales model which seems to be designed to artificially make the watch "exclusive", but every micro seems to have their niche. I think I'd be less opposed to the sales model if, i...

Are you a member of any Land Rover forums? I'm on a Tacoma forum and there are countless threads on rooftop (and inside the bed) tent options.

The benefit is those guys will know the options / pluses and minuses the way we know watches.

Re: Nylon “Tactical” Belts - China

That looks decent, and for the money, I'd take a flyer on it as well. What gets me thinking, however, is the crap I spend money on and the crap I don't. My nylon weave belt has got to be close to 7 or maybe 8 years old now. It still works. I haven't really thought about buying another one. Now flash...

That missile story is crazy. I'm taking my family to Hawaii next month to visit my buddy (USAF Col.) stationed there. Apparently, my buddy (who was at work) knew within minutes the report was false, but couldn't tell his wife who was huddled in their bathroom with their kids. Needless to say, she is...

Re: Oris Carl Brasher Chrono Bronzo

Both of my bronze watches because I don't use bezels much seized up beyond any force I could apply. So my advice is to play with the bezel often Thanks - that was my guess as to what would happen. I would think the same would happen to the pushers as well. As much as these look interesting, I have ...

Re: Oris Carl Brasher Chrono Bronzo

Dumb question regarding bronze dive watches - I understand the thing to do is allow them to patina over time. As the cases patina (which I agree, can look cool), does the rotating bezel, crown and pushers continue to operate or does the patina cause things to lock up? I guess you could use a stainle...

Re: Transformational shift?

I'm of the same mind as Alex. There are tons of people who dislike the Seiko Spring Drive movement, but I am not one of them. I feel the same way about this innovation. My appreciation of a mechanical watch movement comes from their ability to run almost perpetually with just the movement of your ar...

Re: STP3-13 heads up

I guess not too surprising. I was an early adopter of the Soprod A-10, choosing to use it in my OWC. I had to send that watch back to Australia twice in order to fix it. Turns out it was heavily over oiled from the factory. Once the movement was cleaned and properly re-oiled, it has run well since....

Are you still stuck in Boston? If so, I think the Tournuea in Copley Place might have one. I think I saw it in their case when I was there last month.

If you are stuck through tomorrow, go get a steak at Grill 23 for dinner tonight. Use your boss' expense account.

I'd like to try one of these and compare it to my SLA17. I loved the Vintage-esq nature of the 017 and the killer crystal, but the size of this one works better for larger folks like you and me. SLA feels very special to me and I'm keeping it to satisfy my "vintage" vibe, first Seiko diver, small o...

I worked for a few months with a guy once and we both had DSSD’s. I didn’t know his was fake and he didn’t know mine was real, until one day, in the middle of doing something a little froggy that could beat up some of our gear he said, “man, it’s a good thing this is a fake Rolex or I’d be worried”...
