Re: ENICAR Seapearl 600 or Healthlands 100 Fathom – The Enigmatic Watch from the Un-loved Swiss Maker

Hi Dan - I meant to respond earlier, but got busy and the thread got buried in current events. Great write up a cool, somewhat funky, watch. I always associated that dial style with Eterna (Kontiki), but it looks like Enicar may actually be the originator of that style. It is pretty impressive that ...

Welcome, Sebastien. I really like your designs. I especially appreciate how well you have integrated the date window into your dial. It is such a little thing, but one so many manufactures don't do well.

Howdy. Who made the blade? I made that one. I crank out a handful of knives per year, as the work and family schedule permits. It's a fun hobby, when I get to do it. That is pretty cool. Out of curiosity, what do you use for the steel? I've heard of people using old saw blades for filet knives and ...

Re: Coffee I guess is luxury

I'm heading to Kauai next week (well, pit stop for a couple days first at JBPHH). I look forward to getting some fresh coffee.

There is something to be said for being close to the source. Some of the best coffee I've every enjoyed was in Costa Rica.

The boyfriend and the wife are both overcome-able obstacles. Just sayin' :fro:

Also we need a DWC “safeword”.
I don’t think we can do much better than "beef curtain" for this place. How about we make up some classes instead?

Re: Anyone here into shooting sports?

IDK where you guys are finding target ranges 800 - 1,000 yards or more. Everything at that length around my way is private. We are so heavily wooded here in norther New England that there is little practical use for a 1,000 yard rifle. My deer rifle is a 30-30 Winchester with iron sights. It is all ...

Re: See what that extra money gets you

Really impressive, thanks for sharing! It has reinforced my idea that anything above $5-8k is too far beyond what I need/want, but at least now I very clearly see the why behind some prices. It kinda escaped me before. Great way of putting it. The way I think about it is the $5 - $10K watch range c...

SBDC053 EBay Bracelet

I picked up one of those EBay bracelets for $148 (including shipping) and was asked to post some thoughts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180212/8b5680f5a0107ee5d05b44822d7d5dc7.jpg I think the watch wears well on the bracelet. I've worn it the last few days on the bracelet and have had no issue...

No, LA area according to the Google map insert. I am wrong. Nick's concerns appear valid. It is sketchy.

Re: Find A Watchmaker: Finally got some traction!

So the prices look decent. But who are they ?. Montoya showed an example which is I assume, purported to be their case refinishing. It is however a picture of a Brit watchmakers work, lifted from a UK watch forum thread. That's pretty concerning. https://findawatchmaker.sharetribe.com/en/listings/4...

Put the SBDC053 on one of those EBay bracelets. I think it looks pretty good, but ironically, after wearing the bracelet I feel this is more of a rubber strap watch. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180209/dae37485d18a86a06d0f6f7171aac71a.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180209/90f150989d9d0...

Jacob, I believe you are spot on with this assessment of the business model. It is an unfortunate situation and given the intertwining of these reseller relationships I'm not certain what Rolex can do to prevent it. Regarding the watch, I have an issue buying anything at that price only to have to m...
