Re: Sinn rubber straps on other watches?

It's all about spring bar hole placement and case height. For example, I tried an inexpensive replacement fitted strap designed for an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 45mm (22mm lugs) on my Alpina without success. The Omega and Alpina lugs, while visually similar, have different spring bar hole placeme...

Well, at 45mm in size, at least they aren't subtle about being ugly. If you are gonna be a bear, might as well be a grizzly.

Re: Spring Made Premium Nato Strap

Interesting, but it seems like an answer to a non-existing problem. Does it have the infinite loop design where the entire strap can be shortened to minimize the length of the loose end? I’m guessing no from the picks. It seems that clasp would be annoying catching on stuff. Do you lift up on the ta...

Re: Doxa sold to fossil?

I’ll look to see if any Fossil watches show up on Walca’s web page.

It actually wouldn’t surprise me though. Alpina is owned by Citizen, and Glycine is owned by Invincta. There are probably a dozen more I’m not remembering. The brand name is worth something.

Need a little more time to form an opinion, got it at lunch and ran back to the office. The dial is gorgeous in person, w...

Re: New Ollech & Wajs P-101 and P-104

I'd say the top one is more reminiscent of their old Caribbean models with the 12 digit bezel and the 12, 3, 6, 9 applied markers. I think the renders look good, but I'm going to hold off on the "like" button until we can see some real world photos. The case on these looks pretty basic, which I gues...

Not bad, but the black date wheel on the blue dial is a bit jarring.

Re: No date watches

On a day to day basis date versus no date is not a big deal to me. If the date works with the overall design, then great. As Chris alluded to above, I'd much rather have no date than force a date window in where it becomes a distraction. That said, when I travel on vacation, I do prefer watches with...

I like that “earth pvd” case treatment. It reminds me of what my grandfather’s tools looked like; worn and well used, but well taken care of.

I still need to execute the plan, but to be within 1% of the target goal over that amount of time feels pretty good. AND to be able to send you guys watches that have case backs that we’re able to cut here means we come out of the gate swinging, so to speak. From the very first watch we’re deliveri...

Re: Seiko SBDC071 MM 200 PADI

This one looks great. I just got the 63 version and it wears smaller than a 44mm imo. More like 42 I find your perspective on this interesting given you sold your Alpina GMT due to (IIRC) size. On paper, the Alpina GMT and this model Seiko are very similarly sized with equal diameters and close to ...

Re: Seiko SBDC071 MM 200 PADI

Thanks, T! Good comparison photo.

This is a 44 that is going to wear like a 44 then.

I really dig the look, so much that if this was 42mm it would've already been on a plane from Japan to my house. At 44, I'm a bit hesitant.

Re: New Wallet.

I’ve been using a Saddleback front pocket wallet for years. The good is it holds everything I need and the lack of a plastic window over the license sleeve makes it super easy to access your ID for TSA checkpoints. The bad is my credit cards (2 cards per slot) rub against each other and the magnetic...

Re: Seiko SBDC071 MM 200 PADI

Does this model have the same dial size opening as the SBDX001?

I think the small dial opening of the OG MM300 makes it appear visually smaller and manageable despite being a 44mm watch.

Just wondering if this is similar.

Stupid chunky bezel - check Same FUCKING NAME - check To be fair, it's a lot less shitty looking than the Kobold - so kudos to them. The brand name is Seals. Yes, he calls it the dark seal for this one, I don’t believe he was thinking of kobold at all. I see it as a stainless bezel Diver is all. Do...

I like this one a lot. It reminds me a bit of the Kobold Seal which is a good thing. Pricing is pretty competitive too.

There aren't many watch photos that immediately get me to google the brand and investigate a bit more. This one did.

Re: Bell & Ross's BR 03-92 Bi-Compass

I don’t think the rotating disc is an intuitive design for a main piece of information such as the hour. I think it is fine for secondary information such as a second time zone as in the Alpina GMT, but not hours. The main reason I like analog watches is the “at a glance” ability to tell time. I thi...

Re: Le Jour's Skipper Chronograph L.E.'s

I like it and I'd absolutely wear that brushed and polished version. I like the fact it offers 200m water resistance and I think it would look great on one of Yobokies BOR bracelets as a beach / summer watch.
