Re: Eterna Super Kontiki 1973 Heritage on blowout at Ashford

Check out Dr.J’s review here: http://www.thedivewatchconnection.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7845 Lume isn’t Seiko diver nuclear, but doesn’t look too bad. Jeez that was a long time ago. As much as I liked it, there was no room in the collection for the reissue and an original (which I picked up somet...

I really like the unique handset (in pics at least) and the cushion case. We'll see when it arrives... For those of you that have the watch - what are your thoughts? The only negative I've read is that the lume sounds shitty...is it that bad? Check out Dr.J’s review here: http://www.thedivewatchcon...

Re: Because DWC members know their shit: Motorcycle questions - what to get for my first real bike

I’ve found that 80/20 ratio of front brake to rear to be optimal. It just makes sense as, the harder you brake, your inertia puts more pressure on the front tire so it grabs more effective. The rear tire unweights under severe braking causing a skid. This is why most “sport” bikes have larger, dual...

Re: Eterna Super Kontiki 1973 Heritage on blowout at Ashford

There are two different types of dials on these. One has a bigger font than the other for the Eterna-Matic and the ball bearing logo is also slightly different. Once yours start arriving, perhaps you can post pictures to see which ones you get. I've owned both but can't remember which font I prefer...

Interesting, but I can’t figure out why the coordinates on the cafe racer point to a park in Linford, almost 40 miles away from a location more classically associated with cafe racing such as Stonebridge. https://www.mapsofworld.com/lat_long/areafinder.php Just checked that and those coordinates ar...

Re: Because DWC members know their shit: Motorcycle questions - what to get for my first real bike

Yes, I think you picked the right bike for your little slice of paradise. Taking a quick glance at the stats you posted, it looks like your average speed was 20 MPH and you maxed out at only 56. Sounds to me like a lot of back roads and twisties. A liter bike probably wouldn't be a whole lot of fun ...

Re: Eterna Super Kontiki 1973 Heritage on blowout at Ashford

OK - slept on it and pulled the trigger. Figure I wear a 43/44mm watches quite a bit in normal rotation anyway, plus getting such a legit diver at a micro price is hard to pass up. Plus, rereading J’s review from years ago didn’t hurt. I’ll post up some photos when it arrives. If it doesn’t stick, I...

Re: Eterna Super Kontiki 1973 Heritage on blowout at Ashford

No I thought that it wore rather large on my 7.25". How does it compare to say a MM300 (if you can recall)? I’d be curious to hear this as well. I’ll bet it wears visually larger as the MM300 hides its size very well due to the smaller dial. I wanted one of these badly a while ago. Ironically, now ...

Re: Because DWC members know their shit: Motorcycle questions - what to get for my first real bike

As for the “bigger is better” discussion, it is almost like the “2 foot-itess” disease that afflicts boaters. Everyone wants a boat that is about 2 feet longer than what they’ve got. Years ago I went from a Kawasaki ZX6R to a Truimph Daytona 995i (600cc sport bike to 1000cc sport bike). I found the ...

Re: Right out of the gate.....New Sub $20,000!

You’re saying people, in these emerging markets, who used to work their ass off for a bowl of nothing are finding wealth and seeking luxury goods, like Rolex. It’s true. Yeah, I don’t think Rolex ever reduced supply at all... it is just that due to emerging markets, there is more demand, and being ...

Re: Right out of the gate.....New Sub $20,000!

This is the very first. No way it is representational of what the eventual grey price will be. Bigger question is that with all of Rolex's paranoia about their watches being flipped, how the hell did they let the very first one go to a flipper, with a warranty card??? Agreed. Rolex has a truly mess...

Definitely worth checking out. I wear Randolph’s almost every day as my driving glasses. Very good quality optics and frame.

A lot of bang for the $$ but the 44m size is a no go for me. Maybe is a “Seiko 44mm”, like the MM200. Have been trying to find lug to lug distance and bezel diameter on the web, that could give me a better idea of the real size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Lug to Lug is 50mm according to...
