Re: Black Bay GMT, 58, S&G & Tudor 1926 First Impressions

I like the gold in the insert. It's pretty true to how some bezel numerals age and patina. Kinda visible here, especially when you compare the numerals against the SS of the bezel and case.

Re: Rolex AD event - 2018 Basel content

I might be getting cheap and curmudgeonly as I get older but I'd take the new Hamilton Khaki Field No Date over any of the watches in this thread   :smack: Most of the watches are absolutely horrible with respect to their asking price, but I don't think a ton of them are objectively b...

I offer full refunds for about 3 days after the sale. After that, regardless of what you did or did not do with it, you own it. Same goes for those who try to squeeze a partial refund out after the fact. Unless it was my mistake that I want to make right, you can either send the watch back wholly (...

Looks like the font on my grandma's phone. Or when you accidentally hold Ctrl + mousewheel. Or when you open a file with some unsupported special font. Or...

You get the point. There are lots of terrible things there, but the font is the worst by far.

Re: Black Bay GMT, 58, S&G & Tudor 1926 First Impressions

Took me half the article to figure out what you were talking about when you said S&G, then I realized you meant steel and gold. Never seen it abbreviated that way; usually it's TT. The GMT and 58 are very nice. But the BB crowns still kill me. Notwithstanding the potential corrosion issues, they nev...

I passed on so many of these back in the day. Even then I knew they were sexy watches, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend 9-10k on one.

All of the big groups diversify like this. Swatch Group has Flik Flak, Balmain and CK Watch, LVMH has Hublot :)

It’s my birthday today, my mom gave me an amazing gift. She had a watch that belonged to her father, had it serviced and gave it to me. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180514/05716814f906b5b11fe6832247e05aca.jpg The blues hands are spectacular, it is incredible how nice this watch is considering...

GMT is super useful if you travel. World time is a cool complication, though every one I've ever seen results in an ugly watch which is too large and/or has a cramped dial. I find World Time is becoming more and more useful as collaboration over remote sites becomes easier and easier. I routinely f...

Re: How do you guys delineate between an "Homage" vs. Copy/Ripoff?

I take a harder line on this than most, as I design things for a living and highly value intellectual property and the effort/talent to create it. Most here would take Fred's approach outlined above.... a tasteful recreation of a long discontinued or historically significant watch is "ok". Copying ...

Re: 'rare' Domino's Rolex for auction

I have seen these for sale around 1500 years ago and no one wanted one. I think sellers are trying to create hype to pull more money in Definitely. I’ve even seen people trying to hype “Swiss only” dials on A serial five digit Rolex. This was a better hobby when every seller wasn’t trying to extrac...
