Re: Cheap Nautilus and Royal Oak Knock-Offs

I'm bummed that the cases look pretty good, at least from the videos. Even the bracelets look good. No wonder it's getting harder to spot counterfeits these days.

I really like this. The only thing I don't like is the pusher for changing the date, but I realize that's an extreme nit pick.

It absolutely floors me that the buyer somehow thinks he's entitled to keep the watch now that he's been refunded. You don't get to steal something from someone just because you think they were mean to you.

That wasn’t directed at you personally just to the comments made about micros in this thread outside of Unimatic.

No offense meant or taken.
Gotcha, no worries, and no offense meant by me, either.

Re: Wrong Movements Installed in Unimatic U1?

My overall point is that the big guys mess up and the micros mess up. But if Rolex or Omega or JLC or... had machined cases that didn't fit their movement, they would have come up with a reliable fix (and if the fix didn't work, they would have stood behind their warranty). Rolex had the recent cyc...

Re: Wrong Movements Installed in Unimatic U1?

This is an extreme example, and there are certainly examples of QC issues with the big boys (or outright fraud *cough* Panerai *cough*) I don't want to open up the 'Brooklyn Bridge' can of worms, but I don't think I'd go as far as calling it fraud. Panerai didn't advertise that the movement was bea...

Re: Wrong Movements Installed in Unimatic U1?

This is probably going to annoy people, and it's just my 2 cents, but... This is an extreme example, and there are certainly examples of QC issues with the big boys (or outright fraud *cough* Panerai *cough*), but anecdotally most micros can't or don't manufacture their watches to the same tolerance...

Re: Timeless Chronomaster Heritage Review

I think it looks great. I love the colors, size, and layout. The only real issue with the El Primero movement is its relatively small size, which makes it unsuitable for larger watches, but 38mm is a sweet spot.

Congrats!

It's like a watch version of Glengarry Glen Ross.

I don't care who you are. If YOU are contacting ME about purchasing my watch, you'd better be willing to pay my asking price. Otherwise, you're not worth my time.

Re: why did the stainless ap diver (15710) not stick with you (or why did it)?

Never owned an AP, so I can’t speak to the diver other than to say it looks great. But one common theme with APs is that fit varies widely among the various models. Definitely try before you buy.

Compared to PP or a lot of other APs, a pre-owned diver is a relative bargain.

I often contemplate the "nuclear option" of selling everything for a 1655 and this doesn't help. on the other hand, the Railmaster and Gruen are choice I have the same thoughts about a 1655. Unfortunately, given the way prices have gone in the last few years, that ship has sailed. The 16570 is a ni...

Re: Tudor GMT vs Rolex GMT

I prefer the Rolex. I cannot afford a Rolex GMT of any variety. I've tried several of the new Tudors, and there's always something about them I don't like. The black bay is too thick and the proportions on the Ranger are just off. And I don't like their interpretation of the oyster bracelet, particu...

Re: Audemars Piguet pulls out of SIHH

Not surprising, given the trend of online shopping and advertising. Manufacturers used to wait for these shows to unveil their new offerings for the year. They had to, as it was the best way to effectively communicate (when the press and enthusiasts were all in one room). But now they can do a revea...

Re: Breitling Navitimer 8 B-01 Video

I don't like it. They combined the Navitimer with the Transocean, except they took away the useful features (slide rule; tachymeter). So I don't know how this is a "real" pilot's watch, and I like the design of both the traditional Navi and the Transocean better. I'm a bit of a sucker for panda/rev...

It's cool looking, but I wonder how much traction AE is going to get with a hand winder. I suspect most people (i.e. not weirdos like us) are going to balk at a $2,000 watch they have to wind every day.
