Re: New Aquadive Poseidon Bathyscaphe GMT 100 Limited Edition

Does anybody actually like the 2893 implementation of GMT functionality? I can see it being useful if you’re an attorney, banker, etc that engages in cross border transactions where you’re not traveling, but need to stay in contact with someone in another time zone. Or I guess for anyone who needs ...

Re: New Aquadive Poseidon Bathyscaphe GMT 100 Limited Edition

I did just notice the dial says 1,000 meters water resistant and the description says 500 meters. Either is far beyond what I need, but curious discrepancy. Proofreading is definitely not Aquadive’s strong point [emoji1787] it’s 1000m WR. I noticed this on their regular production descriptions. I’m...

Re: New Seiko Field watch LE

I think they look good. I wonder if 40mm is a bit too large for me given the relatively larger dial and thinner bezel that accompanies most field and dress watches. I'm also not sure if it has a sapphire or hardlex crystal or a screw down crown (honestly, the only thing I don't like about the Hamilt...

I was too late. Definitely want one of these [emoji16]
If you're willing to pay $250-$300, you can get one off recon or ebay. Compared to some of the price gouging that goes on, the mark-up isn't horrible. That said, I'm still not willing to pay it.

Re: Movie suggestions!!

Just finished up The Spy on Netflix. One season six episode dramatization of the life of Eli Cohen, who was a spy for Israel in Syria for several years in the early 1960s. Sacha Baron Cohen (no relation) plays Eli Cohen and is really good. If you like slower moving spy stories a la John LeCarre, you...

I'll go against the grain a bit. I watched it and thought it was okay, but it didn't wow me. Maybe I've been oversaturated on super hero stuff.

Re: Bloomingdale’s getting into used watches too!

Maybe this entire hobby has jumped the shark. I imagine Bloomingdale's prices are anywhere from 25% to 30% above the market average. Yep easily. Some near 70%. Old ass 16613 for like 12.5k Crazy. Trying to sell to the uneducated buyer who just wants a Rolex. A new 116613 retails at $13,400, so I'm ...

Re: Air King = Milgauss Case?

Concur with what's been said. As far as I can tell, it's the same case, movement, and even anti-magnetic shield. The only real differences are the dial and hands, the fact that the Milgauss case and bracelet feature more polishing, and the green tinted crystal that comes with the Milgauss. Oh, and t...

Re: Tudor Military Subs - Sounds like lots of fakes out there

I don't think anyone is knocking them as watches. A lot of military and "military-style" watches look very good to my eye. I think people are questioning the price some of the vintage military watches are commanding. Should a watch be worth more just because it was military issued? No matter where y...

Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?

So uhhhh... genuinely curious here. What's the problem with polishing? Are you not supposed to polish a Rolex if it gets scratched? Does a polish make it less valuable? Given a decent fixed condition, a polished watch is vastly less valuable than an upolished watch. A well polished watch (e.g., cha...

Re: Tudor Military Subs - Sounds like lots of fakes out there

Vintage Rolex and Tudor is such a minefield with prices being what they are. Now add military provenance and it's pretty easy to see why these are attracting scammers. Even without the out and out fraud, it's even hard for so-called "experts" to determine what's original, what's replacement, and wh...

Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?

Now that I can see the pics on my desktop instead of my phone, I agree with the consensus regarding the polishing and the pictures. I love the Explorer II, but even a pristine one needs to be photographed correctly or it looks like crap. You'd probably do fine with this one assuming the price is rig...

Re: WSJ - Your Watch Says More About Your Status Than You Think

I chuckled with GO being more expensive than Rolex Yeah just don’t ever try to sell it lol I was amused by the “I’d rather wear a Tudor Black Bay than a Daytona or an AP” comment. There’s nothing wrong with a BB, but if I had the means to afford a Daytona but wanted something else that would be mor...

Re: Seiko SKX Discontinued (?)

Just looked at the new 5's. Same case as the SKX but, for some reason, the WR has been dropped from 200m to 100m (I assume this will allow Seiko to sell them for less). The SKX line has been around for a long time, so it's somewhat iconic. But, IMHO, the SRP (NAFT) line is far superior to the SKX li...

I love the Khaki Field Mechanical but I'm not feeling this one. Maybe 2mm too small? Also the word “Mechanical” bugs me on the dial. I mean, I get why they did it but doesn’t sound right. A little too small, not loving the case shape, and I also dislike the word 'Mechanical' on the dial. Th...
