Re: Edox's SkyDiver

The only good thing I can say about that watch is that (I assume) it tells time.

Re: New edition Bulova Moonwatch?

Love it. I’m just a bit scared of the size. Some watches, like the MM300 or Shogun hide their size. This guy looks like it wears true to size. For the price I might just buy one to try it out. If it doesn’t stick, I can always give it to my dad who designed the life support systems on those mission...

Re: Movie suggestions!!

Yellowstone is awesome. I’m glad they were smart enough to pick up season 3. It looks like it is expensive to produce, and that often gets good shows canceled. I'm trying to get through this show! But good Lord there is more misery and death and all around bad karma than any other show I can recall...

No one can accuse Hodinkee of not making hay while the sun shines. Will be curious to see this one (along with whatever price they go for on the secondary market).

Re: New IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition Racing Green

Something I've been wondering about for awhile is whether the SE/LE watches that a lot of companies are releasing (IWC, Seiko, Oris, Omega) are actually money makers, loss leaders, or just catering to a small group who the company knows will buy them. It seems to me that a watch like this would pri...

Re: Stranger Things

Those are some good suggestions. I’ve seen some of them, I couldn’t get into Peaky Blinders because it felt like Sons of Anarchy recast and set in old London , but some of them are new to me. that is exactly what i said to my wife jp #blowback I thought it was pretty blatant. I even like the dude w...

Re: Stranger Things

In addition to Chernobyl, Season 3 of True Detective was really good. I watch a lot of tv and those are the two standouts that come to mind from the past year or so. Also worth watching (IMHO) are Succession (season 2 about to start in August), Mindhunter (season 2 starting sometime this year), Mr. ...

I think it's the best of the three they've issued so far, but I'm not crazy about the textured dial.

Re: Post your ridiculously priced Rolex finds

It's all crazy. With the Explorer II's finally creeping up, it's pretty hard to find any sort of deal on a Rolex sports model now. You can still do okay with a 36mm explorer, but even those have crested $5k unless you settle for a beat up or no bracelet example. The best deal in Rolex right now is p...

Re: New edition Bulova Moonwatch?

Tried the original version and liked it. Bang on accurate (though I think the battery life is shorter than a standard quartz watch). Great looking, too. I'd say it wears a little smaller than its specs, but still ended up being too big for me. If you're a moonwatch/speedy pro fan and either can't af...

Re: Stranger Things

I'm kind of on the fence on Season 3. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it, either. I really love the 80's nostalgia and am probably driving my kids crazy with, "did you see that? That was just like what happened in [1980's movie they've never seen]!" I just thought the character development this seas...

Re: impressive digital sleuthing around ginault drama from WUS

That said, on the Wyoming entity piece, I will note three points from a legal standpoint. First, it is very easy to create entities and there is not normally any checks and balances outside of the specific state re multiple uses of the same or a similar corporate name. So, if you file to create an ...

Re: Speedy Pro question

It's not the main spring. It would have to go through a gear train to move the crown, not likely. It's the o-ring seal. Your old one was burnished and needed replacing. The new just has more "spring" to it. If you wind it and hold it for a while, the o-ring will spring back while you hold and you w...

Ironically the logo isn't the typical microbrand train wreck. But that name is pretty hilarious.
True, but the watch reminds me of...something...it'll come to me.

Re: Speedy Pro question

I've experienced something similar on past Speedies I've owned and other manual wind watches. I don't think it's out of the ordinary. My guess is they installed a new mainspring which is tighter than the old spring, so when you wind it, the resistance from the spring causes the crown to roll back a ...

The video interview is a bit long, but pretty decent. Just skip over the first 2 or 3 minutes where Wei Koh is talking about his bowel movements. :puke:
