Re: So... the new PO

I gotta tell you the amount of interesting watches Omega makes nowadays is amazing. Granted a lot of them are controversial and not for everyone. I honestly think they're overextending themselves with their designs and their LEs, but they've got enough "standard" models to keep people happy. Plus, ...

It’s a bad orange, but a better red than the Rolex ceramic pepsi. :)
Yeah, let's not go crazy here. It's a bad orange and a terrible red.

Re: Car Spotting

Saw a Ferrari 308 on the road yesterday, but couldn't get a picture. It did put the Magnum PI theme song in my head for the rest of the day, though.

I'm pretty sure the guy who owns it has had it for years. I see it around town every so often.

Re: So... the new PO

Much like Rolex with Red, Omega is probably struggling to get a good shade of orange with Ceramic. Didn't the original 2nd generation Orange PO stay with an aluminum bezel while the Black version was in Ceramic. The orange 8500 was aluminum? I think the orange in the 8500 version was a rubber inlay...

Re: Q Timex 1979 Reissue

It's clearly inspired by a well-known watch, but that's as it was from when it was first released. Part of Timex's thing was bringing popular, expensive watch designs to the masses, so I appreciate the history. I might be a buyer at $100 or less, but not at almost $200. Maybe it will be cheaper on A...

The new snoopy is the worst modern Speedmaster IMO, yet people love it and it sells for $20,000. I'm clearly out of step.
I think collectors are just buying it to have it given where the values have gone.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy

I just looked at the underside of that bracelet, and it has a swinging "inner end link-link" like a hollow end link bracelet. If it fits on the old case, I'm going to buy it for my Gemini LE. I think that bracelet is going to be in big demand if it fits the standard Speedy case. Funny - it's the on...

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy

The subdial picture sucks, but I’m sure some will like it. Exactly. Enough with the space stuff already. We get it. 1st watch worn on the moon. While Omega does lean heavily on the Speedy Pro and it's space connection, it would be impossible that they wouldn't release a special Speedy for the 50th ...

What’s the code at Macy’s.

ESCAPE
It was really easy to use. I put the watch in my shopping cart and there was a prompt with the code at checkout.

Re: Macy's Sale

Thanks. It was too good a deal to pass up. I think you'll really like it. I wear mine often. Great value. I’ve found myself drifting away from dive watches, and I really like field watches. This offers a nice design at a reasonable price, especially with the discount. Will be a good watch for outdo...

Macy's Sale

Macy's has a pretty good sale going on through tomorrow, and it applies to at least some of their watches (which may only be available in the US). I just purchased a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical for 25% off with the code available on their site. So I'm paying roughly $370 including tax on a $475 watch....

Re: Has anyone seen Billwilson?

Maybe we'll see him again ......on American Greed? I suspect the real story is far from a "get rich at any expense" TV-worthy episode. My guess is the wheels completely fell off this guy's life and whatever issues he was battling came back to haunt him again. Missing appointments, lapsed licenses, ...

Re: More Crazy Rolex AD Behavior

Hehehe well if I can go to an AD and get the Sub I want, why go to a grey market dealer (unless they are selling below retail, which is not the case). Guess Rolex would need to flood the market with Subs. But back when ADs had a steady supply of Rolex sports models, the greys were selling at below ...

Re: More Crazy Rolex AD Behavior

Rolex obviously doesn't like the grey market situation, but it seems they're still unsure about what they can do to stop it. Online and boutique only. That's what other manufacturers (eg. AP) seem to be doing. Omega is moving that way, too. I just got hip to the fact that you can buy online through...

Re: More Crazy Rolex AD Behavior

Rolex must be putting pressure on ADs about the grey market with threats that they could lose their AD status if too many of their sales get flipped (not exactly sure how that would be tracked, but I assume there's a way for at least some of the watches). And I guess the AD's are in turn strong-armi...
