Re: Movie suggestions!!

Watched Terminator: Dark Fate. It was okay I guess. It's always good to see Ah-nold, and it was also nice to see Linda Hamilton back in her iconic role. But there wasn't exactly a lot that was new and different. Finally got around to watching Warrior. I liked it right up until the ending, which I th...

Re: Right out of the gate.....New Sub $20,000!

I’m fairly certain mine will go out the door with plastics intact. Not sure if I’ll be able to get the warranty card left blank, but I’ll try. So is that the new protocol from Rolex. You purchase directly from ADs and they remove the plastics to make sure you don’t resell, BNIB? Yes and fill in the...

Re: Right out of the gate.....New Sub $20,000!

I don't even know anymore. I see the "old" maxi case Sub date listed by grey dealers at $4,000 to $5,000 over MSRP for BNIB. And the pre-owned ones in good condition aren't that much cheaper.

Re: Sinn U1 DE

So how is this New Sinn U1 DE on bracelet going for $2980 and the Sinn U2 W LE $3380? The only difference I see is that the U2 W has a domed crystal (increasing water resistance by 1000m), copper sulfate capsule, and limited to 150 worldwide(versus 300). Anything else I’m missing? That’s $400 diffe...

Re: Cobra Kai Trailer

Yeah, I binge watched it over the weekend as well. Love how they don't take it too seriously, and it is almost satire at certain points. Definitely added a lot of nuance to the characters I did enjoy one scene where Johnny had one of his students washing windows - the student asked him whether he s...

Tried to take a look at what you still have out there, but ran into this error.

Re: New OPs

I think putting out a 41mm OP in lieu of the 39mm may have been a mistake. Beyond the double markers on the dial, which I just don't like, 39mm is a really nice size for a "simple bezel, all dial" watch. I wonder if it will look disproportionate. At any rate, if I were in the market, I'd try to snap...

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?

New case, new movement. Maybe the exterior changes are subtle, but they will probably address a lot of the maxi-case complaints. Assuming the issues with the 3235 have been resolved, it's nice to get some upgraded tech. And I do like the green bezel/black dial variant. But I'm not a buyer unless I w...

Re: New OPs

I like the new sub case shape, and I think the black dial/green bezel combo looks really good. Not sure about the black/blue. 21mm lugs don’t bother me. I’d never take it off the bracelet anyways.

Don’t really care about “all the colors of the rainbow” OP.

Re: Cobra Kai Trailer

Binged it this weekend. Made it through Season 1 and half of Season 2. I enjoyed it a lot. The acting is solid and the story, while not Citizen Kane, is engaging. I think it will probably be lost on anyone who never saw the original, but the updates are fun and I like how they've sort of flipped the...

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?

Sure predictable, but hardly surprising as people have said. Rolex has always done predictable. At least it isn’t (yet another) Speedmaster or Seamaster LE. I find the reported movement issues more concerning. The one thing Rolex has generally offered is staid designs but great reliability under the...

I have heard from a reputable source it could be an Explorer 1 with a ceramic bezel in 43mm case.

Just say no to anything gold plated.
This. I had a former boss who wore an Invicta TT Sub "homage." It seemed like every couple of weeks you could see more an more of the plating rub off. Really looked like crap - I guess he liked it or didn't care, though.

Re: Jason Heaton’s Got a New Blog

Good comments Jason. IMO most dive watch reviews are lame. If a car reviewer commented about how comfortable a car's seats were, how good looking the car was, that the engine turned over, sounded good, and seemed to run well when the key was turned...but hadn't driven it? That is what many dive wat...

Guess I'm too honest for my own good. She was really floored when I told her that they command a lot more on the grey/second hand market due to the current shortage. Her response, "but it's used."

Re: the exit watch

This topic reminds me that I saw my first Patek Aquanaut IRL this summer. It’s a terrific looking watch. Thin, great case shape and size, really unassuming. I could see having that and the 16570 if I ever have the means. I showed a picture of it to my wife and she dug it and asked me why I didn’t ha...

I'm not sure. Right now I have 3 watches. Explorer II 16570 black dial, Tudor Black Bay 41 blue dial, and a relatively inexpensive Brooks Bros branded Seiko chronograph (quartz movement) that I never wear. I've had the Explorer II for something like 2 1/2 years, so I don't think it's going anywhere....

I like riding, but I just can't get into all of the equipment or technical jargon - I'm definitely a "hey, I peddle it and i...

Something about the font for the numerals doesn't work for me. Beautiful blue though.
Overly large numbers on the dial and overly small numbers on the bezel appear incongruous to me. And I'm not in love with the minute hand.

It is a nice color blue.
