Re: Rolex Sport model preowned pricing

but folks can get what they want from him when an AD doesn’t have stock. but isn't part of the reason they don't have stock is because they're all selling to him and the other GM sellers before selling directly to an end user? Precisely I don’t buy from Ad’s, so it doesn’t bother me. Free market ec...

Re: Rolex Sport model preowned pricing

Come on davidsw is everybody’s best friend! Got my 114060 from David. New, my name on the papers, all the plastic on it and 10% off. Pretty hard to beat seeing how hard these can be to get sometimes. Oh, and he’s very easy to deal with. If an AD wants to sell to him, so be it; but folks can get wha...

Thanks guys. Terry’s watchmaker did the service and Henry generously sent it back to me. I’m super grateful to have it back.

New/Old Incoming

Many years ago my dad bought me a Seiko 6139, which I wore for a long time. At some point it stopped running and instead of having it repaired, I replaced it with my first Rolex. The Seiko went in a box. A few years ago I gave it to Henryj, who was interested in 6139’s. A few weeks ago Henry asked f...

Arnold Palmer sold a boat load of Rolexes, or whatever the plural of Rolex is.
The plural of Rolex is Rolex.

I use an Oakley every day. This looks like a good alternative since those are difficult to get.
I have several Oakley's, I believe they are out of production. I have a couple of Casebudi's, but these look to be made better.

Re: WSJ: Is Time Running Out on the Swiss Watch Industry?

The Apple Watch has done more to get a watch on the wrists of people than the Swiss ever have. Everywhere I look I see them.

Re: Does anyone have the Halios Seaforth Pastel Blue?

I pre-ordered the pastel blue, fixed bezel, no date today. I think it will be fun and work well with gray and black straps, maybe olive too.

Saying it is more solid than the AB is like saying an Abrams is more solid than a 1985 Hyundai. Not close.
Wow. I ride the AB a lot since I don’t run. We’ve got 9, doubt they will be replaced anytime soon. I’m jealous.

Re: New IWC MK XVIII Laureus

I like this style of watch (the ss looks better imo) but the wrong date placement looks terrible in real life. That's the one thing that has kept me from buying a Mark XVIII. I was able to try the Mark XVIII Tribute to Mark XI last week at Watches & Wonders, and the date position bugged me. Apparen...

Re: Horological and existential funk

Just can't get fired up about watches anymore.... Prices are stupid these days, especially in the vintage market. I just can't get my head around 4-6X the price I paid a couple years ago. New watches seem to be pushing the envelope and on top of that I'm just not inspired by much. Anyone else feeli...

Re: SIHH 2018

Not feeling these JLC models at all. And they didn't like people taking pictures of their watches? What up with that? Not that they didn’t like it, just didn’t get the feeling I should. The saleswoman was very knowledgeable and the boutique was very nice, offered snacks and drinks, even though they...

Re: SIHH 2018

200M "rated" diver with a divers helmet engraved on the case back on a rubber strap and with push/pull crowns is a joke to me. I've moved on. Seems like Richemont is out to ruin JLC like they did Panerai. Rolex Explorer killer, my ass Also, while they were very nice at the boutique, the pressure to...

This is going to be hard to choose, man I want them all, lol https://media.fotki.com/2v2J9m6zNxAqZad.jpg I was able to try on and handle the LE today at the JLC boutique in Miami. Nice watch, wears well on my 7 1/4" wrist too. No screw-down crown is confirmed. But it's just not the TT Polaris. The ...

Re: Watches & Wonders

That shit is too fancy for me. If I can’t wear camo shorts and a Hurley T I don’t go.[emoji23] Gee, that’s how I’m dressing for it. I’ve seen lots of pics from the event, and casual dress is the order of the day. I was invited to a Panerai event last night. I assume it was a little dressier than no...
