Absolutly brilliant, loved it. I don't think I've ever seen this before but at the end no one got up until the credits, and the music, had ended.
Saw it tonight. Same thing happened. Theater was captivated. Malik’s performance was amazing.

Re: Shoulda kept it sealed...

Let’s all take a moment to collectively regret not buying Hoppy’s 16600 last year. 4 or 5 years ago, I almost pulled the trigger on a mid-1990's 16710 for $3,800, but I decided the extra $1,000 I was going to have to put in on top of a trade was too much. :crybaby: :nutkick: I remember when I gradu...

Re: Inside the Tudor Factory

While the article was mostly superficial, there were a couple of interesting takeaways. It stated that Tudor (and I assume Rolex) do not keep any inventory. Everything is always made to order. Also the bit about the custom weaving of the Tudor straps in France helps explain the price and why none of...

Inside the Tudor Factory

Been posted at a few other forums, but I thought worth a repost here. It sounds as if it is basically one factory with a Rolex side and Tudor side and some shared resources, but mostly separate manufacturing. I always wondered exactly how that worked. Also interesting that every watch gets a WR test...

Re: Certina DS PH200 Reissue

Comparison versus the original from the website. Would have been a nice opportunity to go a bit closer to the original in the reissue, but I suppose it isn't huge. The original from 1967 has a case diameter of 38 mm, the bezel measures 40.3 mm and lug to lug 49 mm. The re-issue has therefore grown a...

Re: Tudor Black Bay GMT initial impressions

I love the Tudor design so much more than Rolex but it just drives me crazy and would never consider buying one when they give me a cheap aluminum bezel insert for the price of that watch. Rolex used aluminum for their bezels for years and charged as much or more than what Tudor charges for the bla...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181101/577bc3a70db9011a2c9e882f65a7d1be.jpg I hope there's a future Explorer type version. Same dial and hands but with a fixed bezel and maybe a slightly smaller case. 24 hours in on wear and I can confirm this case is fine on average sized (just under 7 inch) wr...

Aluminum will give you that nice fade that Rolex fans love.... although I’m sure modern Aluminum bezels probably have better UV resistance.

Just in case you wanted a reference to Nick's "due respect"; "Unlike so many other nicknames for the police, such as cops and the fuzz, this particular term has a relatively well known origin. You see, starting around the sixteenth century “pig” began being used in English as a derogatory term for ...

Re: Dieter Rams: Hidden inspiration behind the North Flag?

While I'm a big fan of Rams design language, I don't really see much of it in the North Flag. Case has some similar lines with the chiseled lugs, but plenty of watches have done that, including Rolex's own similar Oysterquartz lineup also from the 70's as chisel lug cases were common at that time. T...

Re: Bleaching a Shiznit - experiment

Cool! Does the nylon hold up after that much exposure to bleach? Doesn't look any different. Weave is still shimmery and tight with no fraying, etc... Even if there is a slight loss of strength, Shiznit straps are pretty beefy and I would be surprised if there were issues. Cool! I might try that fo...

Bleaching a Shiznit - experiment

So after receiving Terry's latest Shiznit colors, I decided that they were too dark for my preference. I really wanted a true Khaki colored strap and the Crisp Khaki is much darker. The "before" photo below shows it as a dark tan, but that was taken outside and it reads like a dark brown indoors. As...
