Matt's favorite brand of honey:

This quote is nice:

Re: Ginault - questions answered

Ginault would be a good candidate to go after MKII's market. They use the same flowery marketing bullshit and genuinely seem to put a lot of care into their watches. The info above at least shows they have "some" transparency. I would love to see a watchmaker tear down a Ginault movement and do a co...

Re: Laventure's Sous Marine

Seems the price has dropped over $1000 off. I just got a newsletter email. Monta deal all over again? https://www.laventure.swiss/en/the-watches/laventure-sous-marine-collection/laventure-sous-marine-steel-blue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Still 1500 too much Agree. To me personally, no brand...

I’m guessing 49mm too.
Close. 46.8mm wide and 15.9mm thick. Titanium with Diashield. $1800.

New 6R64 Auto GMT looks interesting. Independently set hour hand, Power reserve and date. Too bad about the enormous size.

Re: Lorier Watches - Neptune diver

That plexi dome is awesome. I never quite understood why plexi was desireable until now. I know they scratch much easier, but that dome is great and it looks like plexi is much less reflective than sapphire. I didn’t get it at all until getting a Speedy. Now I am infatuated with the feel of a Plexi...

Re: Laventure's Sous Marine

I like it and the finishing seems nice but the price is nuts. $3,200 for an upstart with a 2824? Can buy a new Tudor with an in-house movement for that. They should have learned from Monta's initial mis-step.

Re: Timeless Sixty-Five Limited Edition

Thanks guys, you're too kind. Aside from size, what would you have done differently? Different color, more or less bronze, etc. I think the two tone bezel sucks. Would you rather it be full bronze or full steel? Full steel. It's a nice watch as-is, but the bezel was jarring to me. It's still better...

Re: Marc & Sons Diver Watch Series Professional

Would be a nice watch if not for the two stupid crowns, weird hands, and odd 12 marker. Without those thing it’s just a Sub copy. After all of the hammering that Omega gets for using a crown for a HRV, this company decides to repeat the mistake, but makes it worse by not having the crowns align wit...

Re: Where to find XL Orange bezel 2500/8500?

Some have issues with the idea of buying a nice watch from Joma, but I bought a Speedy Pro from them last year and the experience was great. Saved something like $800 compared to a dealer . The sacrifice is that you don't get an Omega warranty. You get a Joma warranty which people question on moveme...

I can't wait for the BB58!
BB58 is simply a copy/ripoff of MKII.

Re: 'rare' Domino's Rolex for auction

I calculated my household income recently - 97th percentile. When someone that high in the income distribution thinks that prices are obscene, there’s a real problem. Wow. The difference between the 97th percentile and 99ths is significant though, and there are 1.6 million households in the 99th pe...

Re: How do you guys delineate between an "Homage" vs. Copy/Ripoff?

I take a harder line on this than most, as I design things for a living and highly value intellectual property and the effort/talent to create it. Most here would take Fred's approach outlined above.... a tasteful recreation of a long discontinued or historically significant watch is "ok". Copying a...

Re: 'rare' Domino's Rolex for auction

Look at a $40,000 car now versus a $20,000 car ten years ago. A new sub represented about 25% of the cost of each. That car is looking like a much more enjoyable buy now than it did then. These watches aren’t worth $20,000. Thats a fucking enormous amount of money and the only reason people are wil...

Yeah, I get what you mean. I wonder how easy that would to read in the water.

Still not a fan of the screwed case back
While it has your fully indexed bezel, it is part of the Fieldmaster line, and is in no way implied to be a dive watch.

Damn it Seiko. I didn’t even notice it myself...

He’s right. The bezel is not even useful on this. Why??? Track seconds with a bezel? That’s some backwards fu$&ing pageantry.

Always something....
You shut up. Bezels are awesome. Life should have more clicky bezels.
