Have the same issue- not just rubber but leather as well. Unless you go custom I think it’s something we just live with.
I have had decent luck with Hirsch straps as for some models they have short, standard and long.

I like the Tudor 41mm monochrome.. Kind of a meh on Rolex and IWC.. Love the JLC… Not sure what to make of Bremont.. That Bremont Supermarine is a mess.
