Re: all black everything

Oh man, I always forget about the Monza. That thing is fucking sweet. Black pushers, crown and date wheel would make it just about perfect. Yeah, I’m going to have to disagree (respectfully, of course) with that one. I think the chrome pushers a ala the original really stand out—in a good way—and p...

Re: Badass shoe/boot link thread

I dropped off a couple pair of Iron Rangers to the RE store to be re-soled with mini-Vibram, then I noticed these Weekenders and had to give them a try. Just the second day and they are extremely comfortable. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191124/b645c6691b78c856ab09396ba68816a7.jpg Post a pic ...

Re: Anyone else put off by PADI? Am I overeacting?

PADI doesn’t need more money, it’s the AMWAY of the dive community (and I’m PADI certified DM). Maybe if the money went to reef protection programs or something similar. In any case, I don’t think it says anything about the wearer; go for it if you dig the colors. It’s the reason I bought one. Sent ...

Re: Timeless in Texas

Tangent: I had a similar experience while trying to buy a handwound Nomos club with two separate vendors (one in Europe, one in Hong Kong). Maybe it’s just that Nomos is low on stock on this particular sku and it’s hard getting one. I completely understand that, it was demanding payment up front an...

Re: Timeless in Texas

I’ve purchased 3 watches from them over the past few years, and when I bought the Tudor GMT this year (granted, high demand watch) I wasn’t offered any kind of break—on it or extra straps. Wasn’t really bothered by it, but I don’t think I’ll make any effort to purchase from them in the future, as I ...

How Many Vets Do We Have Here?

Just out of curiousity, given yesterday was Veterans Day, how many vets do we have here? I had a brief, glorious career in the Air Force as a Persian Linguist.

Strapcode Jubilee Question

I’m looking at picking up a Strapcode Jubilee for my NAFTs after seeing David’s on his PADI. Sweet. Went to the website and saw they have both the Super Jubilee and the evidently on steroids Angus Jubilee. Anyone have any insight or experience with the Angus? Trying to figure out if it will look wei...

I, too, am a fan of the no date. Will this be available with a 12-hour bezel, like the original, or just the dive counter?

Re: Texting and driving...

Some 30 years ago, I was driving my 9-month old BMW and was t-boned by this poor kid who had just graduated from Coast Guard basic. The damage to mine was $16K; he had the minimum required liability insurance for state of Delaware: $5000. My insurance company paid, but then sued him for the differen...

This thought was driven by the desire to pick up another like-vintage GMT, then saw what current prices are. Really the only sale I regret.

Your Worst Sales Decision

So, back in 2001, before I knew any better, and a watch was just a watch I had these two: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191104/589e6b3ff4fa79a70e401a589115e701.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191104/532b558de19f2c167e84c85c2660342c.jpg I was living in Geneva—you know, the motherland—and ...

Otto Frei hasn't been able to get parts from Omega for a few years, so they're pretty much sold down to the seeds and stems.

Omega Parts Help

Does anyone have a line on a supplier for Omega watch parts? My Gen 2 X-33 has an issue: the movement cover that covers the battery, underneath the backplate, is cracked and needs to be replaced—it causes the alarm to not work as is. I’m currently in Turkey, traveling/working in the sandbox, and my ...

This is the first Bremont in a long time that made me actually sit up and say wow. But then I saw the price, and it elicited a different kind of wow.
