Re: Video Of The Latest Omegas

I don't like glass backs anyway, but the blue chrono' looks quite ridiculous with the ceramic pushers.

Re: A Bremont Vertex?

I prefer the Broadsword to the Vertex, and Bremont has a significant following in the UK veteran community, producing military LEs and unit / squadron watches, not to mention dedicated events. There's more on their Instagram.

Beautiful and awesome. I'm currently looking at a Caterham for the same reasons as a retirement gift to myself.

Re: Ahhhhh, screw it

I’ll admit I’ve been eyeballing a new Garmin watch. The Alpina smart watch is kind of cool too. It uses a battery (2 year life span) instead of rechargeable, but the idea is a typical “smart watch” needs to be recharged every few days which is not not acceptable on a week long camping trip. I’m off...

Re: Marathon watches

Thanks guys, still mulling it over. And, yes, Terry, I kind of assumed if they were issued it would have more likely been the general purpose quartz or navigator. Still, having said that, the British MoD still issues the CWC quartz diver to the SBS.

So, if that looks anything like the Tudor Sub is expected to look, it's just another BB isn't it?

Marathon watches

Thinking about getting one to go alongside my CWC diver, and wondered if anyone has any experience / thoughts of them. I like the design and the lume, as well as the option of straps, which CWC doesn't have. Are they really "issued and worn by troops in Iraq and Afghan' " like their website says?

Re: Out With The New

Saw the new SMPc for the first time about a week ago; it looked better in reality than in photographs, but that's mainly because from a few paces away, it doesn't look that different to the previous one; up close, the HEV doesn't look as pronounced as it does in photographs, and I like the slightly ...

Re: Watch taste maturation... has this happened to you?

Aside from my chronological age, I don't think "mature" relates to anything about me (according to my wife)!

In terms of watches, it's always been divers, and that's all I currently own, although I have been looking around at versions of pilot-type designs, but nothing yet certain.

Re: OK, admit it... which watch brand names can you just not get past?

Not a brand name, but "railmaster". Don't care how great or aesthetically pleasing it is, but couldn't possibly own one. "Hey, what's that watch you're wearing?" "It's a 'Seamaster', master of the sea!" "Coool!" "Hey, what's that watch you're wearing?" "It's a 'Railmaster', master of the railway" " ...

Re: New Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co Axial

I like it, as well as several other new offerings from the brand, but just wish there was the option for a solid caseback - glass backs are a deal breaker for me.

Re: SMP crown issue

Thanks Terry, that's kind of what I wondering; whether how it is now is "normal" in that Omega has changed something in that part of the watch's operation. When I took it back in, the shop assistant wrote down my concerns about the crown, and the service-parts list includes replacement crown tube. ...

SMP crown issue

I had my SMP serviced about a year ago, and everything seemed fine until about a month ago and it developed some condensation under the crystal. It had been in water, but I'm very careful about checking before it's submerged. Anyway, I unscrewed and pulled out the crown, popped it into a jar of rice...

Re: RIP Kawasaki KLR650

A great bike, although back in the day, my choice was a Suzuki DR 400 (before all the water-cooled types). I'd still have one now if I could, but they go for more than I paid new in 1981. When I raced enduro (on a Kawasaki) a friend of mine put a big four stroke (400cc I think) into a K motocross fr...
