New Strap Idea

I was cleaning out a drawer and found a spare IWC Aquatimer 3536 velcro strap. If you've ever worn one of these, I think you'll agree they are super comfortable and infinitely adjustable. It occurred to me that the link bars for these optional straps are 20mm, so theoretically the strap could be use...

Re: Sticky Pelagos

Dont try to remove it if Tudor is using their plastic washer system (like the one on the Black Bay models). The bezel can come off easily enough prying it with a butter knife, but it is not possible to put back on due to the washer. It will require a new washer and specialized equipment instead. Pro...

Re: Scurfa Diver 1 - 500

Quite tempting - all the good things of the vintage diver, like drilled lugs, 40mm with crown guards, and very legible dial & hands.

What is the price in US?

Re: Rare Gold Vintage Divers

When I was an embarked Marine, the skipper of the ship I was on had a solid gold Submariner with blue dial/bezel. Still one of the best looking watches I've ever seen.

Re: Well this didn’t take long

They re treating this watch like the Hess truck craze. They were a good buy for resale until they became perceived as an investment. Then everyone bought them and held them, so the natural scarcity caused by kids actually playing with them disappeared and the rarity evaporated. Beanie babies, yugioh...

Re: SLA033J1 aka modern 6105

This may be a reflection of bias against Seiko because of the wide price range they cover. In the late 70's you could buy a Rolex tool watch - a Submariner - for about $400. The tool diver - 6105 - from Seiko was about $170. (As a side note, the 6159 divers cost $600 back then, 50% more than a Sub. ...

Re: WRUW 20 March 19

The '68 re-issue - had a 6159-7001 once, and always regretted selling it. This is very close to the original, only without the hassles of a vintage watch.
Still find the 36,000 bph sweep mesmerizing. This is on the 19mm strapcode, fits perfectly.

I’ve wanted one of these since they came out.
Me too. I'd love to see a picture of one next to a 'known' watch to gauge the size of it

Don’t usually buy bezel-less watches, but this Lorsa was very reasonably priced for an automatic Chrono. Lorsa is a long time maker of Chrono movements for other brands. 100m WR, strong lume, + 3 seconds vs NIST, and pvd w full bracelet. Not a serious challenger to the more established mil spec chro...

Destro Dial Question?

Even as I write this, it seems a little stupid to not know the answer. But I'll ask anyway: On a no date watch, can you simply lift the dial off the movement (after removing the hands) turn it upside down, re-install hands, and now have a destro style watch? Is it that easy or are there more complex...

Hard to know where to begin. Business practices aside, the guy only makes copies of other peoples watches. So you do an entire interview about his design prowess? Hes a 'design' guy? Oh, yeah, and he thinks all Rolexes are "eh" in person...

He is an oxygen thief.

Credit Where It Is Due...

Pic added for other reasons - seik39.jpg I have been vocal in highlighting Randall Benson's terrible business practices in the past. Nothing I've learned in the interim has changed my mind either. But his work as Dr. Seiko is just spectacular. I have owned several of his Hands Of Time 6309s (aka HOT...

Re: Seiko SBDC051 and SBDC061

I agree with the other posts, but would add this: the SBDC051/53 is a dress watch that is a thoroughly competent diver. Its shiny and a bit blingy in a way that most Seiko divers are not.

Got It Back - Second Time's a Charm

Sometimes life interferes with your plans, and that was the case with a really treasured watch I had. It was sold but not forgotten. Two years later, fortune has smiled on me and I found another similar one for sale. I am a sucker for any EZM1 - even the benighted BAPE version - but this is my grail...
