Vintage Le Jour Dive Watch Questions

Hi all! I picked this up on EBay. Has a really nice tropical dial hiding under there. It was well used by a diver based in Florida. I’ll need to source a crown. No reference number on the back and I can’t get the case open. It ticks after I shake it. Has a nice robust all-steel case. Any idea the re...

Glad to see that sorted out. Anyone know about sourcing the correct hands for this watch?

Need help with Ardath Diver Guy watch!

Hi all , I have picked up this funky little Ardath “diver guy” watch. I love the scuba guy on the dial. But the hands are wrong. Not sure what a cathedral style hand is doing on a dive watch! It features a Felsa 4002 movement. The hands are pretty unique to this watch. I’ve attached an image of the ...

Re: Retaining ring for a Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 - help?

Did both crystals match ? Parts are harder to get. Maybe buy a beater watch for parts. Since Benrus are a much-wanted watch see about an odd brand that used the same case that a beater for repair for a cheaper price for a parts watch. I have done that before. If you're a member of the MWR forum it'...

Retaining ring for a Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 - help?

Hi all, I am starting a new thread here as this topic is different from my prior post about this same troublesome watch. Would love your input!! So, I have a Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 that has a crystal-related problem. With the correct crystal in place the retaining ring won’t screw down far enough to...

Re: Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

Hi all! So I ordered that crystal that was recommended here (thanks again). But a new problem has emerged. Here’s what my watchmaker says: “Crystal arrived…..whilst it’s a good fit to the case, the retaining ring won’t screw down far enough to enable to the bezel to be pressed home and sit flush.” S...

Re: Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

GS supply has your crystal from that link with the crystal catalog the phone number in one of the other links I posted. http://digitaledition.qwinc.com/publication/?i=666158 on page 105 of PDF file catalog. The catalog number for ordering it. If you ever need another one since you found one already...

Re: Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

Thanks everyone for the replies. I really appreciate your insight, the links, and the effort to find the crystal. Good news: a dealer I work with sometimes has sourced the correct NOS crystal for me. It’ll be headed to my watchmaker shortly. I’ll share pics of the finished watch! Daniel Sent from my...

Re: Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

Update: perhaps the crystal for this one is a generic one? Or maybe there is a known generic replacement that would work on this watch? Any help is appreciated

Re: Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

This is a question better suited for the old river rat type guys at MWF. Years ago I was trying to buy one of these and I bought parts when I could find them. Let me look later but there is an extremely small chance I may have a crystal… but no promises on fit. Thanks so much, I appreciate you look...

Benrus Ultra Deep 6088 question

Hi all, I’ve got a question about my Benrus Ultra Deep 6088, which my watchmaker is currently working on. It has a monocoque case, and when he removed the bezel so that he could get at the movement and dial, he saw that the crystal seemed to be glued to the case with some sort of epoxy. He managed t...

Glad to hear it as well... that watch looks amazing Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Thank you! He did a great job overall, and I am especially impressed with the lume work he did on the hands — it is a great match to the existing lume on the dial. I am happy to report that Jack Alexyon of IWW did an amazing job on this Rado. I wholly recommend him for your watch servicing needs. If you’re curious, here’s what it looks like. Image

Re: Problems opening a vintage Rado Captain Cook

Jack got back to me and suggested heating the watch up, so that a melted, stuck gasket becomes a little loose and then maybe it will open. Anyone tried this?

Re: Problems opening a vintage Rado Captain Cook

I haven’t - but I have not tried anything. The watchmaker has it. Is that an obvious method he would’ve tried?

Problems opening a vintage Rado Captain Cook

Hi everyone, I was able to pick up a gorgeous Rado Captain Cook some months back. Now, though, my watchmaker can’t get it open. There doesn’t appear to be rust present. He’s a pro, and if he can’t get it open, it must be sealed seriously shut. Could the threads be messed up? Any ideas? He says anyth...

Info on a U.S. Divers-branded Fifty Fathoms

Hi all! I was lucky enough to recently purchase what I believe is a very rare U.S. Divers-branded Fifty Fathoms watch. I understand Blancpain made these for U.S. Divers in a private label arrangement. I bought it from the friend of a family whose late patriarch used to dive in the 1960s in the lakes...
