Re: doxa's totally lost the plot

I love the watch, but the price is absurd.

If they had announced a new standard release T-graph at under $5k, it'd have been one of the major hits of the show. Instead they gave us this bizarrely expensive piece limited to 13.

Re: Tips for buying Rolex used?

Thanks Eric! I might give them a call. Anyone dealt with HQ Milton? They've got a used 214270 at a very reasonable price. Make sure it’s a second generation model. The first gen has white gold numbers and t-Rex hands. Yeah it's the MKII. That's the flavor I've been looking for, not a fan of the pol...

Re: Watch Podcasts What ya listening to?

"On time" was fantastic, but they haven't put out new episodes in a long time. Still a decent backlog and they've got very high production value.

"Unwound" is also pretty good. But Grey Nato is my overall fave.

Re: Tips for buying Rolex used?

As stated, for a new or gently used modern Rolex, you should be okay with any one a number of the "trusted sellers." Your best bet is probably taking a look at the "who's who" section at TRF to get a sense of who those folks are, but you'd be fine with the three Matt listed. To me, the bigger issue...

Tips for buying Rolex used?

So I'm considering picking up my first Rolex, and I'm looking heavily at the 214270. With it being Rolex, obviously counterfeits/fakes are a big concern when it comes to buying used. Does anyone have any tips on a process to follow when evaluating watches for sale, and how to verify authenticity? Lo...

We've got all the consoles, and the only one we ever boot up is the switch. Our xbone has been unplugged for weeks and we didn't even realize it.

Switch all the way.

Re: Watch box/storage?

Thanks for these suggestions!

The Caddy Bay options seem particularly enticing, saw that they have a wood finished box as well which is probably what I'm going to go for. Although, that Etsy box is pretty cool as well.

Appreciate the help, fellas.

Watch box/storage?

I've finally come to terms with the fact that I need a larger watch box. I was rocking a 5 slot box for years, but that hasn't been enough space for quite some time now. So I'm looking around to get something with 12-15 slots...anyone got something that they'd recommend? I'd prefer to not drop a for...

Re: New Laptop/Tablet

I've got a Pixelbook now and I would highly recommend it. Since it runs Android apps, you have a lot more app potential than what the Microsoft store offers.

The Surface line is great and I've had three of them now. But they're definitely more work focused, less entertainment.

Very comfortable. GS bracelets articulate nicely, and the watch is lightweight with a slim case and small dimensions all around.

I'll be curious to mess with straps on this one.

Those atypical strap sizes like 21 and 19 are so strange to me. I don't know why manufacturers don't just go 1mm up or down.

Are they 21mm? I haven't taken it off the bracelet yet. But looks like it might be 19mm spacing. Can't find any details on it online.

But the bracelet is so good I haven't messed with straps at all yet.

Operates as a "flyer" gmt. Local hour hand jumps. That's the way I like it. Did they have to sacrifice the date quick-set to make that happen? Yeah, you've gotta jump the hour hand fully around to change over the date. Fortunately, with it being quartz, you don't have to fuck with it too often.

Latest collection entry... Grand Seiko SBGN001

I posted this in the WRUW post the day I got this...but figured it deserved it's own thread. I've been craving another Grand Seiko for a while after selling my snowflake, but I wanted something less shiny. Unfortunately, Grand Seiko's tool watch lineup these days is pretty slim. I've always had a fa...
