Re: Anyone still use a desktop PC?

PC's are all I've owned. I can adapt it anyway I want whereas Apple is pretty much Apple only products

Use mine for work and gaming, but not a high powered gaming PC.

Currently replaying part of Half-Life which works with MS10. Sadly. Can't play FO3 with MS10

Re: Any O&W fans?

I had about 5 Caribbean 1000 models and one had a broken crown. If yours is the same design. Don't think you can buy one. The case tube on mine was threaded on the inside and crown tube was threaded on the outside Parts suppliers do sell threaded tube and crown sets if you want to change it over DON

Re: Options for Fixed Lug Bar Watches?

You can buy straps from Hirsch. Can probably custom order through a retailer in any material and store will attach it for you

Might be an extra cost for a strap that usually isn't available in an open end design

Re: Jaeger LeCoultre vintage education

Just a warning. Many parts for older vintage JLC's are discontinued. If JLC has them. They won't sell them to you. You will have to send them the watch for them to check and then tell you the cost. They wanted one time almost $700.00 for a movement ring and a dial for a watch that only sold in close...

Re: Milus Caribbean 1000

Check out this site and post I did as I used to own a number of Ollech & Wajs models on the same type. Here you can see a variety of names that used the same case and crown, so you can do WTBuys under the various names. Not even sure if parts suppliers would carry a crown like that as cases made by ...

Re: Vintage Heuer prices have gone crazy

Lots of vintage models have gone way up. I bought vintage Omegas for $75 - $150 from 1998 till about 2006 when priced started rising. Same for those little Tre Tacche Longines cased models and never paid more than $75.00 Sold my Omegas around 2009 after my watchmaker passed away and didn't do anythi...

Re: 243 Help Needed - If Possible

As the finished was altered. Panerai as you mentioned won't touch it as they don't know what else was done. Probably nothing, but they don't want you screaming that the watch was damaged during the repair. It's like when I worked in jewellery. We never called a diamond a diamond. Only a white stone ...

Re: buckle advice?

Majority of buckles are made in China. I use 3 different suppliers, but don't sell them separately. A number of the strapsmith ones are made by a friend of mine and laser cut hence the higher price. Some are custom designed etc. if your willing to pay If you look at enough. They tend to look the sam...

Re: Looking for a Used Panerai

Just be careful if you place WTB's. Brings out the scum con artists and their references are as fake as they are.

If you get a reference. Make sure it's a known member who's an active forum member. Lot of people get sucked in by fake references. Usually made up by the seller

Re: Does any one collect vintage watch books for info like I do

I don't buy any books. I stick to what I know to avoid problems

Price guides are more skewed towards the dealers rather than the sellers and all are pretty much out of date by the time they're edited, printed and delivered to retailers etc.

Weekend Pam

Owned this piece for 16 years. Bought it from someone who was looking to get another model. Back then it was just another used watch and bought as a used watch price. No one cared about collectability or rarity unless it came to much earlier and harder to find models Picture taken 3 or so years ago ...

I'm close to old school and I didn't get one. Probably blackballed by a few of the mods I got into fights with. Pretty much all the popular known members got one. Total is 300, but I bet it's 301. One popular member who didn't get. All of a sudden received one The unknowns who got lucky. Most likely...

I usually bought the occasional auction catalog. Got a number of free ones from Gisbert Joseph. He sent me some older catalogs when I got him some sales when I mentioned his name on a forum I used to belong to..

Pays to save power cables from old equipment

Kept a couple from old printers. Bought a new Canon which didn't include the cord and old was a match.

Yesterday. Kettle cord went. Had a spare printer cord downstairs which was exactly the same design as the kettles.

I'm now out, so hoping nothing else goes
