Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

I doubt any micros have actually tested their extreme depth watches. To test the DSSD, Rolex had to build its own machine with help from Comex, and I’m sure that was a significant cash outlay. Not that micros can’t build watches that should theoretically be resistant to extreme depths. I just doubt...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

Are there any modern super compressor watches? This thread has me scouring google for a proper compressor cased watch but all I can find is vintage I don't think there are. It was a rather complicated design that involved a spring loaded case back, so that the gasket was progressively compressed as...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

If it’s actually 300m resistant still impressed Good WR is not really rocket science this days. The quality machining of cases is not so difficult to achive with modern production machinery. That said, don't necessarily believe everything a micro brand prints on a dial. I don't think any of this wa...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

Indeed a copy, but at least this watch (and the SM1000, and the SM300 now) have been extint for some decades. And it was a good quality copy, no 58 bezel clicks here, if you know what I mean. I do find some usefulness in that. Debatable, i know, but that marks the limits of a homage to me. Obviouly...

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

I doubt it, Omega didn’t sue Helson when they did the Ploprof copy as far as I know. (Yeah, this isn’t the first time they have done a blatant copy). Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

I get that ppl prefer the no-date version and Longines is not making it anymore. But to me, the phantom date-change position of the keyless is a constant reminder that it is NOT a true non-date watch.

I'd still rather put up with the date window and go for the real thing.

New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

I just noticed a new entry in their website, and I couldn't find any previous discussions on this one. Neither old nor recent, so this must be a new offering altogether... Helson Hammerhead. Re: New To Me - Skin Diver by Helson

I've been curious about the Skin Divers for some time. They do look very well made. Never pulled the trigger on them because I'm not sure I will like the FF style in the long term, and on Helsons in general because of the infamous posts of 2011... Now that I have seen the quality first hand (I bough...

Re: New To Me - Skin Diver by Helson

Very nice indeed ! I'ts incredible. Even though it was debunked years ago, that thread of the French guy flooding Helsons by the dozen keeps lingering in everybody's mind whenever the brand is mentioned... They do deliver amazing quality. I've been wearing my Sharkmaster for about a week now, and I'...

Re: Helson Sharkmaster 300 aka Omega sm300 homage

All is well in the world. No WR problems, the bubbles I was seeing were just air pockets under the bezel. I am really happy with this watch. This is my first Helson and I am VERY impressed. The overall quality is well above the price-point. I've had a couple of Steinharts (sold an O1 Legacy, still k...

Re: Helson Sharkmaster 300 aka Omega sm300 homage

When you say "wet tester" do you mean the kind of test where you pressurize a chamber half full of water with the watch suspended above it, then lower the watch into the water and depressurize the vessel and look for a stream of bubbles? If that is the case, then a leak (in my limited experience us...

Re: Helson Sharkmaster 300 aka Omega sm300 homage

I have just received my big triangle/black. VERY impressed with the quality so far. I got it on the strap until I get to size the bracelet. It seems to be serial number 089. Seems like a very low number, what does that mean ? Haven't these been around for some time now ? No, they've only been relea...

Re: Helson Sharkmaster 300 aka Omega sm300 homage

While I wait for mine to come. What would be a good shark mesh bracelet for this watch ? Strapcode ? Something else ?

I seem to recall that there were some issues with the seat-belt style clasp ?

If you write to them nicely, asking if they could please honor previous sales, they always do. However you wanna word it but I know a handful of times that they’ve done. I think they send you a one time use code. Can't say I didn't try... But no luck with a discount code. However I may not be hit b...

It was only one guy who kind of had a issue. but when he was asked to state what happened it seemed like he was more of a troll then a legit person with an issue. Well, I've had a case of water ingress on an Omega Seamaster Chrono Diver... Maybe I should start in internet campaign to bash Omega. Af...

Re: Helson Sharkmaster 300 aka Omega sm300 homage

That old thread still pops up if you google for Helson wannabe diver. I believe it is not considered serious by now, but I admit that it stopped me from buying a Helson some years ago... I don' t believe that they pressure test 100% of the watches either, but I can test to 7bar myself, so I can be o...

Hi guys, is there an active discount code for Helson that you know of ?
I kinda like this watch, but I could use an extra incentive to pull the trigger.
Thanks.

Re: Looking for tuna bracelet

I just received a PVD Tuna bracelet from Strapcode today. 21.5mm at the lugs (for '09 production or later) and it tapers into a fairly nice ratcheting clasp. It's available as a Oyster or Endmill style. Also, single sided screws in the adjustment links for easy removal. I'm going to put it on a SBB...

Re: steinhart ocean one bronze

Panerai7 is drunkartstraps and Drew is aboen. They both make great straps, many in canvas. You can pick material color and stitch color. Don't know how long their backlogs are. Looked them up. Definitely the way to go, thanks for the tip. You can remove the whole thing and use normal straps. Or cut...
