Re: A refreshing start to the new year, with a new perspective...

I look at it like this – the second I take it out of the box and take any of the plastic off, it's basically worth the same as it might be with a few hairlines (give or take), so if I'm committing to not returning it to the seller outright, I can afford to put some of my own marks on it. Anyway, too...

Re: Worst Watch of SIHH 2018?

AP's Royal Oak offerings this year should be called "hold my beer." I like most of the "extra/ultra thin" versions they did (Jumbo, Perpetual), but the Offshores were bad. Fair point, for sure. The Royal Oak re-issue they announced prior to the show was pure sex. Offshores have otherwise been a dum...

WTF why?

Bremont puts its crowns in weird places and doesn't have to resort to this kinda lazy shit.

Re: SIHH 2018

Personally, I was hoping for something that'd compete more closely in the 'luxury sportwatch' category that seems to be largely dominated by AP and Patek. JLC might not have it this year.

A JLC explorer killer?
I haven't seen the price yet (wasn't in our presser), but if I were the Explorer I, I'd be very worried in a few days.

Also, c'mon, pics would ruin the fun. I'm sure somebody else'll leak it first.

Yeah, I'm guessing lots of legal challenge (or at least threats of it).
Had to be Biver. The video they released was basically shitting on everything Tag's done in the last year (lame ambassadors, photo shoots, graffiti painting stunts, etc.).

Re: SIHH 2018

It's not a ceramic case, and it's a big collection with a wide range of prices. What's not being shown above is just how large the collection really is.

Re: Wtf Moser Frankenwatch

It's pretty shitty of them, but I fukkin' love it. Rich trolls are the best trolls.

Plus, they're only making one, and whomever buys into the joke will essentially be putting their money straight into charity, so I'd call it a win for the rest of us.

Re: Oris Carl Brasher Chrono Bronzo

Both of my bronze watches because I don't use bezels much seized up beyond any force I could apply. So my advice is to play with the bezel often I had an Aquadive Bronze that I routinely stuck in pretty much every waterway I came upon (dove with it a few times, paddled the ocean, swam in freshwater...

Hopefully a regular SS version will follow. I'm in with everything but kinda over bronze
Seems like they'd be crazy not to, especially considering that this is everything the Black Bay Chronograph should have been.

Burn so good it had to be posted twice.

But seriously, 46mm and only 100m? And two bezel pips? Baffling.

I literally was telling a buddy a year or so back that Tudor was one of those rare watch brands who (at that time) “could do no wrong.”
Awfully nice of them to set me straight [emoji19]

Re: stamped vs machined – any tells?

You won’t even be able to tell with a loupe unless you are looking at a broken piece. We are talking about microscopic level inspection and even then you’re going to have to prepare the material (grind, polish, acid etch) to remove the texture (brushing, bead blasting, high polish) to reveal the gr...

Re: stamped vs machined – any tells?

Damn fellas, this is super interesting. The punchline that I'm getting outta this though, is that visually speaking, there isn't really a way to tell just from looking at a case (unless you were maybe scrutinizing the grain of an unfinished one through a loupe), right? 'Dink gone misleading again. B...
