Re: Hi Everyone! New to DWC but not watches

If Indiana Jones went after that crystal skull it wouldn’t have been a flop with this devout Indy fan. That shinola is cool. 17yrs ago me and a couple dudes (one then Kiowa pilot, and one recent Robin Sage grad I served with in the 82nd as an infantry soldier) decided to drive up 95 to D.C for the w...

I’m okay with it.

Seems they’re putting it right out there for all to see at 1/4 of Shitola.

Re: Interesting read about steel Pateks

There's so much economic discussion/speculation about Rolex and Patek without and hard data that it makes my head spin, which is why I've given up on Rolex for now. I never could afford a Patek, and likely never would unless I came into truly SERIOUS money, which is quasi-possibility with my family,...

Re: Seiko cracking down on JDM watches being sold in the US

Not to derail this thread but anyone catch the WUS "street price" thread on the SLA033? Seems the perceived value isn't $4.5K. Shocker! https://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/new-sla033-street-price-4999891-15.html#post49524395 https://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/new-sla033-street-price-4999891-...

Re: Gold metal square

I like it a lot. Thought about the SS version many times and tried on the PVD version at a dept. store a couple weeks ago and it's very well put together and has that classic G look I love. I'd disable the bluetooth as well and glad to know that's an option. Unfortunately, it seems like my eyes are ...

Re: Seiko cracking down on JDM watches being sold in the US

Jacob is 100% correct. None of the Chino - Higuchi etc ships to Europe. Same for the vendors on Rakuten. It has been the case forever, I was actually surprised when I was i the USA that it was "open bar" in this sense. Chino doesn't even sell Seiko anymore as of earlier this year. I wonder if this ...

Re: Any RC fans here?

I had an AE racing rc car when I was a kid. It always seemed like it would be more fun than it actually was. I’m sure battery tech has improved tremendously though. I don’t see much enjoyment in the driving part anymore, but if I had the time I think I could get into the model building side. I’m fa...

Re: Akura's Wayfarer

Not the worst micro I've seen. Until I scrolled down to the AP bracelet. Phoned it in there. Never quite understood this stance. Why is it we're okay with oysters, jubilees, presidents on a number of watches, but when someone copies the comfortable AP-style bracelet, on what is a head unlike any AP...

Re: Omega's Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum

Plus at this price they had better be hand selected sections of meteorite... Not necessarily book matched because that would possibly make the dial too busy.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if you had the coin for one and had a case of Pareidolia in the shape of a penis or something you couldn't un-see.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy

I saw it in person, too. Liked it but just another recent Speedy LE in my book. Prefer my 3570.50... If there weren't billions of conventional speedys in circulation I would think they'd increase in value with all the LE madness, but the regular speedy renditions are still where it's at for me. That...

Any RC fans here?

Re-re-re-kindled with some Amazon purchases today. Got another indoor copter (had been awhile -- the WLToys V911 Pro $38), one for my disabled father (Tenergy Syma S107G R $24), and a pair of easy-to-use indoor drones for me and my 6yo son with separate channels. All about $120 shipped out the door ...

Long (300mm) Nato with polished hardware?

Terry currently doesn't sell any with polished hardware for my massive polished Bulova Moon Watch , and while his conventional length straps fit my shorter lug-to-lug watches fine, I can barely get the fabric to double-over into the second keeper so it pops out and flops around, which drives me mad....

Re: Omega's Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum

I called the Soyuz dial 50th anniversary in precious metal here years ago... not that it matters at $55K. Anyone else not like the phrase on the back? This isn’t the watch and either is my speedy... this always bothered me with the other exhibition caseback versions. Much prefer the flight qualified...

Re: Most appropriate response: HTFU

Probably another testament to a moonwatch's hymen: It's not the main spring. It would have to go through a gear train to move the crown, not likely. It's the o-ring seal. Your old one was burnished and needed replacing. The new just has more "spring" to it. If you wind it and hold it for a while, th...

Re: Top Gun: Maverick preview

Trailer seems suspenseful and promising. Going to see it with my veteran cousins once released, but we're in for the nostalgia and Super Hornet. Hopefully the story and jet stuff is good enough to keep me interested enough so I can keep my thoughts on their ages at bay. On that note, Jesus H. Christ...
